Dear Devotees, I am writing to you on behalf of Food for Life Vrindavan. Every year at FFLV we celebrate Srila Prabhupada's Appearance day by hosting a special feast for 1500 children at our schools. The feast includes Rice Pulao, Poori, Sabzi, Choley & Gulab Jamun (Srila Prabhupada’s Favourite). Jeera rice,
one cup rice,
two green chilli
one teaspoon jeera
1/4 cup green peas
2-3 bay leaves
2-3 cloves
10 cashwes
pinch of aesofoetida
2tablespoon ghee
salt to taste
method:
wash rice and keep aside. In a dry vessel, heat ghee, when hot, add aesofoetida, bay leaves, cloves, jeera , fry for few seconds, add slitted green chillis, saute for half a minute, add the washed rice mix all the ingrediants , then add salt as per the taste, and then add one cup of water, again mix . cover the vessel with lid and let the rice cook on slow fire, ( the water should be absorbed in the rice no need to drain it ).
once the rice is cooked, remove from gas, garnish with fried cashew, and offer to Krishna

I would like to mention here that when pressure cooker is used for baking cake , the pressure lid is not put, and the baking is done without water, the cooker does not have any water in it, this makes the body of cooker weak, and with prolonged use of cooker in this manner may make the body of the cooker weak and it may be dangerous to use it with the pressure lid ( the small lid used to stop the steam from escaping). hence we should keep separate pressure cookers for cooking and baking. never mix them.
