Once, I met Reverend Ridley De. After he quietly listened to my lecture for two or three hours, he said, “Since you are saying things that are so similar to Christianity, why don’t you declare yourself a Christian?” To this I said, “Christianity is only a partial representation of – or a step on the ladder of – Vaiṣṇava dharma. Apart from that, we have more, which supplements what Christianity teaches. Things that have not been said in Christianity because qualification is there in a fuller exte

PUERTO RICO RATHA YATRA

On December 28th, 2016, a balmy day in the bustling tourist city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, traffic came to almost a standstill as “Harmony of the Seas”, the largest cruise ship in the world, pulled into the harbor. Locals and visitors alike flocked to the port district to observe the impressive dimensions of the ship. Hundreds of cruisers stepped off the ship to explore the Boricua shore. Unbeknownst to the gathering crowds, they were about to witness a joyous process

Srila Prabhupada: My Guru Maharaja explained that you haven’t got to learn anything extra for Krsna’s service. Whatever you know, you just apply it. Then you become successful. Because our time is very short. We do not know when I am going to die. (Srila Prabhupada, Conversation - July 16, 1968 - Montreal)

Chand Kazi: When Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu was in Mayapur, Chand Kazi was the Chief Magistrate of Navadvipa. It is described in Sri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, when Lord Nityananda Prabhu while taking Jiva Gosvami on Navadvipa-Mandala Parikrama, entered Chand Kazi’s Village, Lord said, "O Jiva, hear My words. The Chand Kazi's village is none other than Mathura. After performing kirtana, Gauranga gave love of God to the Kazi and liberated him. Mathura's King Kamsa of K

The top part, on the forehead, symbolises the footprint of the Lord. On the top of the nose, that symbolises or looks like a tulasi leaf. Both are very important and very auspicious. In India, all the temples of Visnu or Krishna, the main domes or sometimes the walls of the temples, you will see it has large scale tilak marks. These are the traditional markings for a temple of the Lord. Krishna, the Lord, is present in our hearts in other words our bodies are temples of the Lord. Therefore we de

Well, prayer is like a standard practice in the process of Krishna consciousness. We should pray to the Lord. This means in general that we can offer our own prayers. It is a standard activity we are meant to do, having said that, if we pray through Srila Prabhupada, it is MUCH MORE LIKELY that Krishna will hear us and take note of our prayer because Prabhupada is much more than we are. Krishna listens to Prabhupada. Krishna will probably listen to us but not the same way. Just not the same way.

Hare Krishna. When Srila Prabhupada went to the West, Krishna actually created the perfect arrangement for Srila Prabhupada. The United States of America, at that time, was in a perfect situation to receive Srila Prabhupada. If we look at the history of America, then we can see that soon after the second world war, America reached the height of it’s material prosperity. At the same time, the youth of America became disillusioned. They saw that money cannot buy everything. Especially the most im

Today is the disappearance anniversary of Sripada Tamal Krishna Goswami Maharaja, my sannyasa-guru and spiritual older brother. From him I learned almost everything I know about serving Srila Prabhupada. On this occasion I
rededicate myself to him and pray to engage in his service eternally, in friendship and love.

Hare Krishna.

Yours in service,

No material fix…

2515175737?profile=original

Some people think that this world is a gift from Krsna to us, “Krsna was so kind that he made this material world for us so that we can have a good time!” That thought is going on and in the middle of it, some disaster happens and then suddenly it is not such a nice world anymore, “How is this possible? How can this happen?”

A more sober person who is not so passionate can see things as they really are. A passionate person is so full of desire to enjoy that a passionate person projects that de

Today is Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja’s disappearance day. He comes in the Gaudiya Vaishnava disciplic succession after Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura and Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana. He was a renounced ascetic, fully engaged in chanting the holy names of Krishna and meditating on His pastimes. For some time, he made his residence at Surya-kunda in Vraja-dhama, near the temple of Suryadeva, where Srimati Radharani used to come and worship the sun-god—or, I should say, where She us

Morning Walk, Mayapur, February 6, 1976

Tamala Krsna : What is the way to draw the line between the following three things: blasphemy, fault-finding, and calling a spade a spade?

Prabhupada: A spade a spade… Just like I am saying that “What you are? You are small fig only.” That is reality. And what is the other?

Tamala Krsna : The other is fault-finding and…

Prabhupada: Fault-finding, that is another fault, that… vranam icchanti, maksika vranam icchanti, madhum icchanti(?) Just like the flies,

Lord Shiva – Myth or Master?

Being in charge of the mode of ignorance, Lord Shiva is also the master of false ego in all living entities and as such, it is Lord Shiva by whose mercy one can finally get relieved from the clutches of false ego and achieve permanent shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

I was alarmed to read a text wherein the author described, in his own way, the significance of Lord Shiva’s different attributes like the snake around his neck, the trident, the d

Pious activities by Kadamba Kanana Swami

2515175562?profile=original

Caitanya Caritamrta gives the three categories of pious activities. There is karma unmukhi sukriti, moksha unmukhi sukriti and bhakti unmukhi sukriti. Sukriti means spiritual benefit. Karma unmukhi sukriti gives benefit on the realm of karma which gives you good material results. So if you do pious activities – let’s say you make a shelter for people or you give to the poor – these kind of things are pious and they give you good karma and in the next life it comes back. It is said that if you g

This weekend’s London Saturday night harinama sankirtan coincided with the 74th anniversary of George Harrison’s appearance day (birthday).
The weather was wet so there were fewer people out and about, but still many members of the public did stop to watch or join in.
Actually, one of the things that had endeared the devotees to the
Beatles was that they went out on the streets of London no matter what the weather.
