Ravana’s exploitation of Sita’s service attitude shows how, if we are naive, our virtues can be used against us.

Few things cause us as much agony as when our good intentions backfire on us. When we try to do something good for someone but that very person exploits our goodness and hurts us, we feel betrayed, enraged, shattered.

Such was the situation that led to the abduction of Sita Devi. While she was living in a forest cottage with Lord Ramachandra and His brother Lakshmana, she became the

“Vedic Culture Hasn’t Been Preached Properly”

Chapter 13 of the book “Civilization and Transcendence”

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: Next question, Śrīla Prabhupāda. “Do you envision a different role for the Vedic culture in the Western countries, where the influence of other great religions has been felt for centuries?”

Śrīla Prabhupāda: No. There is no “different role.” God is one. God cannot be two.

As Kṛṣṇa states in the Bhagavad-gītā [7.7], mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya: “There is no author

Before Zoom classes began I took advantage of the beckoning sun. I was sure this was not a singular thought. Sure enough the craving for sun, green-ness and crisp air was apparent. My favourite bench was available and only good things I could see. Hither and thither: walkers. A dog park replete with happy humans and canines. Men, women and children; black, white and brown. Not one person with a cigarette. Kids playing. Adults talking.

A relatively young dad was carrying a bundle of the gathered

The first-ever exclusive online Japa Retreat by His Grace Mahatma Prabhu (ACBSP) took place on April 18 and 25. More than 600 participants from 38 countries attended the retreat, including prominent ISKCON leaders as HH Jayadvaita Swami Maharaja, HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami Maharaja, and other senior Vaisnavas.

During the retreat, devotees were given an amazing opportunity to dive deeper into their chanting of the maha-mantra and experience a greater taste for the holy name.

It was quite the humid day; cool to the feel. The wind was up and trees were dancing with their upper bodies while their trunks, as usual, were anchored stiff.

When my services were completed for the day, which included a Zoom chat with our Halifax crew and another on plans for our next film production, I took the opportunity to walk a stretch. It wasn’t long but it was…

The other day when I did a walk the length of Ramsden Park, I took a gayatri mantra break right next to the tennis courts. I

Rest in peace Uncle by Tracy Daley

I’m Tracy, another one of Pankajanghri’s nieces. Together with my brother Adam Beardon we wanted to send a message and share some photographs on behalf of our mum Sheila, one of Panakajaghri’s big sisters. Sadly mum died 9 years ago but in her last few days Pankajanghri and Jananivas phoned her every day and chanted to her which was such a lovely thing to do and I know if she was here she would have wanted to send a message of love to her dear brother.
Sheila was 9 years older than the twins an

8909960893?profile=RESIZE_584xDear devotee, I pray you are well. Here in India, we are in a War Zone!

Here is a lecture I gave yesterday with a number of Krsna’s sweet pastimes in Vrindavan. It may soothe the hearts of devotees in these difficult times. On Srimati Radharani’s request we’ll hear how Krsna began to play His flute causing His cows to soak the ground with endless streams of milk, which in turn created an ocean of milk. Moments later Lord Ananta-sesa appeared on the ocean singing Krsna’s glories with His thousand

Speaking on the first two of the six loving exchanges which are the foundation of all Vaisnava relationships. Offering gifts in charity, accepting charitable gifts, revealing one’s mind in confidence, inquiring confidentially, accepting prasāda and offering prasāda are the six symptoms of love shared by one devotee and another.

Volunteers for the Food For Life Program in Turin, one of Italy’s largest cities, distributed 15,000 meals to homeless people in need during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and plan to increase to 20,000 meals in 2021.

The project was launched by Prabhu Das, who moved from Milan in 2015 to start a new temple in Turin, where there had been no ISKCON center for many years. He started with nothing, raised funds through book distribution, found a building with a large kitchen and

Request To & From A Mother

8909932075?profile=RESIZE_584xBy Achyut Gopal Das

Today on the occasion of Mother's Day, I went to meet the cow, our mother to wish her for Mother's Day and make a request to her. I requested her to shower her blessings and mercy on her children who are suffering so badly due to the deadly covid virus. The good news for all of us is that, she mercifully agreed to shower her heartfelt blessings, prayers, mercy on all her children. After all, that's the heart of a mother - always wanting and desiring best for her children. Two Verses by Bhaktimarga Swami

8909930666?profile=RESIZE_400xWhile keeping indoors from ongoing showers, the real shelter for me for the afternoon was a Zoom call with our weekly Gita study group. We dove into chapter nine of this dialogue of a masterpiece. Krishna and Arjuna are communicating on an important subject matter.

Firstly, we examined text twenty-seven which is about the spirit of giving and doing all things in the right consciousness. “Do all things for me,” is Krishna’s direction, or, as I would put it, to offer everything to the Universe; im

To our dearest, beloved Jananivasa Prabhu,
We offer our obeisances at your lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.

Our hearts overflow with bittersweet love as we witness your painful separation from your beloved brother and lifelong companion, Pankajanghri Prabhu. It is often impossible to express in words such deeply felt loving affection; even harder to add the pain of vipralambha to that love; it can surely be said that n

Even though covid is spreading so rapidly with the possibility of death lingering very close to us still, the desire to enjoy this world is still strong. Isn't it surprising? Probably not because Maya after all is very strong and clever. She keeps the hope to enjoy this world even in the face of the greatest dangers alive and burning in our hearts and thus keeps us stuck here birth after birth.

As Adi Shankaracharya prays in his famous Bhaja Govindam song -

"Angam Galitam Palitam Mundam

8904667686?profile=RESIZE_584xWhen rain comes, as it does now as I write, it sets a mood for meditation. I was thinking about Mayapura in India as those raindrops hit the window panes of my room.

Mayapura has been bursting with energy, with so many pilgrims coming daily, families moving there to take up residence and a new temple arising. We get reports that while international travel has been slow, fueled by the virus restrictions, attendance from all over India has been good, especially during Holi/Gaura Purnima time in Fe

A Message from Ambarisa and Braja Vilasa Prabhus

To All Devotees Around the World,
With heavy hearts we observed the peaceful passing of His Grace Pankajanghri prabhu yesterday. As one of the most critical personalities in the development of the Pujari floor of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, his absence is now deeply felt. Over the years (even decades), we have come to rely on his seniority, purity, and quality of devotion to Krishna as an exa

“So, you’re chanting? I chant sometimes. I learned it from the Park Avenue bowling alley in Montreal. It became a Krishna Centre.”

“Nice to meet you, Hugh!” I said this to the nice guy who became a Baha’i teacher living in South America for seven years on that mission. Hugh never forgot the pranam mantra to our
