December is a very special month. It is the month when all the ISKCON devotees, armed with sankirtan weapon, march in all the streets, knock at every door to distribute the most valuable treasure of books of Srila Prabhupada. They are determined to bestow all auspiciousness to every living entity, so that they have a very bright new year coming up!
ISKCON Mayapur Sankirtan buses go from villages to villages, to distibute books during this Marathon month & throughout the year. On 23rd Nov, inauguration of Book Marathon took place in Sri Radha-Madhava temple hall. Blessing the occassion and inspiring every member of ISKCON Mayapur community to come forward to take part in book marathon, HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami, HG Jananvias pr, HG Navina Nirada Pr, HG Nareswar Pr, HG Jivanath pr and many others glorified the sankirtan movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. HH Jayapataka Swami, from chennai spoke through phone, inspiring the devotees performing Sankalpa to become victorious.
HH Jayapataka Swami message on Book Marathon Inauguration:
So, I hear that the devotees are going to do a Sankalpa to engage in the Sankirtan Yagna in the month of December,in the Maraton month.In India we celebrate this month as the month of the speaking of the Bhagavta Gita, Gita Jayanthi month. Prabhupada wanted that his books should be read by the people. By reading his Gita or Bhagavata, Chaitanya Caritamrita, other books, people will naturally get attracted to Krishna by his books to devotional service. So it is our household family business, to distribute books.Srila Bhakti Siddhnatha Saraswati Thakur, he had a daily Newspaper and had devotees go out and distribute that everyday.People asked, “How do you have so much news?And he said, “Well this world is Ekpadhvibhuti, one fourth of the energy of the Lord.The spiritual world is Tripadhvibhuti, three fourth , of the energy of the Lord. So we have so much to report. Like this in our Parampara, books were also distributed by our previous Acharayas. I saw in one of the Universities, a book by Bhakti Vinodh Thakur in Mcgill University and there was a Life and Teachings of Lord Chaitanya.So it is our Paramapara that started this book distribution. And Prabhupada,He would be so happy when the books will be distributed.So this is a spiritual service to please Krishna and Guru.And we hope that all the devotees will pray to the deities to get empowerment, to represent Krishna.
Lord Chaitanya gave the order, “yāre dekha, tāre kaha ‘kṛṣṇa’-upadeśa
āmāra ājñāya guru hañā tāra’ ei deśa” Also I hope that all of you will be empowered by Lord Chaitanya, Lord Nityananda and the previous Acharyas to distribute books to the conditioned souls.
In Delhi they have every devotee, every Namahatta, every Bhakti Vrisha, every extension centre, they make a commitment, how many books they will distribute. In this way they have 2500 book distributors. Mayapur has 7000 devotees. So if everyone will take some quota, it could add up to a big number.Some may distribute in the Mayapur campus, some may go to near by cities, or even Kolkatta, so like this, try to distribute as many books as possible. Those who are not part of Mayapur, the same thing applies to you. Get all your Bhakti Vriksha groups, all your devotees to pledge this marathon , at least some goal. In this way , we hope that throughout my zone, there will be a Tsunami of Book Distribution. Thank You very much!
