How to Make Life Successful

2515110458?profile=original

Our quality of life is concerned with the soul, and hence the word "consciousness" is very important because consciousness belongs to the soul. Consciousness is the symptom of the soul's presence. Because the soul is in the body, the body feels pleasure and pain. When the soul leaves the body, the body can be hacked to pieces, and yet it will not protest. This is because the consciousness is gone. We feel pleasure and pain because consciousness is present, and God enlightens us that it is this

Don’t let them steal your privacy

Seeing an unprecedented number of unscrupulous people going all out to exploit women’s privacy, a few months back we posted a cautionary article in order to assist ladies safeguard their privacy. There are increasing number of reports exposing how, even so-called reputed companies and institutions have failed to protect women’s privacy.

Hidden wireless cameras have become an obnoxious fun-tool for nefarious people, and an earning tool for the porn industry. They install such cameras in women’s c

Things are getting worse? This might help

Have you ever found yourself listening to the evening news, thinking that the godly are disappearing and the faithful have vanished from the earth? I know I have. For me, the worst of all is when people I trust go bad. I don’t expect much from those who traffic in violence and crime. I don’t even look to celebrities and athletes to be exemplars of morality. But when trusted leaders are found to have done terrible things, especially when those leaders are pastors or priests, I sometimes feel desp

Hare Krishna! We Are Not The Body

2515038018?profile=original

By Kesava Krsna Dasa

Because we think we are “not the body”, it can lead us to do so many wrong things in the name of Bhakti.  It can induce false detachment and renunciation.  That is, pushing oneself to be detached without spiritual taste to replace it it becomes an off-the-body form of mind and body deprivation that does not last, because it is exerted by passion, not natural spiritual progress.

An artificial renouncer might think, “I am denying myself of all trappings of sense gratification

Giriraj Swami: Today is Sri Rama-ekadasi

2515038064?profile=original

Giriraj Swami: Today is Sri Rama-ekadasi. On this date, Srila Prabhupada completed his translation of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, at Hare Krishna Land, Juhu, Bombay, in 1974. He finished his work with his “Concluding Words,” a beautiful and profound glorification of his “beloved eternal spiritual master, guide, and friend,” Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. He was in an ecstatic mood and said that we should celebrate with a feast.

Affection based on service

2515037704?profile=original

Kadamba Kanana Swami, 03 October 2013, Melbourne, Australia, Srimad Bhagavatam 2.3.8)

One should never think that we possess anything in this world, not even our children. Our children are independent from us. They are living beings with their own destiny who are placed under our care for sometime, that is all. It is not that they are part of us, “Something of me lives in my child.” That is illusion.

Genetically, it can be proven, fine! But genes have nothing to do with our identity, absolutely

Free Speech

2515038284?profile=original

We live in an overcommunicated world. The prevailing culture insists we reply to all text messages within 10 minutes, be mindful of the mountain of emails building up in our inbox, and religiously return random ‘missed calls’ on our phones. Don’t forget to regularly post something witty on Facebook, follow your best friends on twitter and utilise all the free airtime minutes on your contract! It is, after all, good to talk. But what is the net result of this web of exchange? Does it foster a gr

Everyone wants to become God, imitator. Imitation. Therefore they say, "Why Kṛṣṇa shall be alone God? I am God."

You are God. That's all right. But you are not the Supreme God. Why you forget that? You may be a God at home of your wife, but when you go to your office, you are not god; your master is god. He directs you to do something; you have to do it.

So we may claim that "Every one of us, we are God," but nobody can claim that "We are supreme; I am Supreme God." That is not possible. That

Cleansing of The Consciousness

2515038102?profile=original

Everyone always desires to possess something. It is said here that desire and greed are the products of false identification of oneself with the body. When one becomes free from this contamination, his mind and consciousness also become freed and attain their original state. Mind, consciousness and the living entity exist. Whenever we speak of the living entity, this includes the mind and consciousness. The difference between conditional life and liberated life occurs when we purify the mind an

Why am I Suffering & What Is The Remedy?

2515038084?profile=original

We have suffered from the beginning of our birth. As a baby, the human being is tightly placed in the abdomen of the mother in an airtight bag for nine months. He cannot even move, there are insects biting him, and he cannot protest. After the child comes out, the suffering continues. The mother undoubtedly takes much care, but still the child cries because he is suffering. There are bugs biting or there are pains in his stomach; the child is crying, and the mother does not know how to pacify h

Evolution in Fact and Fantasy

2515037648?profile=original

The other day a devotee friend was asking me if Srila Prabhupada had ever discussed with his disciples the topic of Dinosaurs. “That is a good question, I am not really sure”, I replied. So I went to Prabhupada Books and did a search. Sure enough there was some discussion about the theory of evolution and the dinosaur. We share with you one such conversation.

The Post of Responsiblity

2515037709?profile=original

Why is a man given a better chance to live than swine or other animals? Why is a highly posted government officer given better facilities for a comfortable life than an ordinary clerk? The answer is very simple: the important officer has to discharge duties of a more responsible nature than those of an ordinary clerk. Similarly, the human being has to discharge higher duties than the animals, who are always busy with filling their hungry stomachs. But by the laws of nature, the modern animalist
