Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara)

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Kyon Nai

DSC002952.JPG

Kyon Nai was an appointed meeting place of the Divine Couple Sri Radha-Krsna. Once, Sri Krsna was waiting for Srimati Radhika here. Some of Srimati Radhika's friends had wanted to test Krsna's eagerness to meet with Her, so they had arrived early, and hidden Srimatiji in a nearby kunja. When He saw the sakhis Krsna asked eagerly, "Kyon na ai? - why has Kisoriji not come?" To increase His longing they answered: "Abhimanyu (Her husband) is home

Introduction to Tulasi Devi

Serving Trees Such as the Tulasi

In the Skanda Purana there is a statement praising the tulasi tree as follows:

“Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto the tulasi tree, which can immediately vanquish volumes of sinful activities. Simply by seeing or touching this tree one can become relieved from all distresses and diseases. Simply by offering obeisances to and pouring water on the tulasi tree, one can be free from the fear of being sent to the court of Yamaraja (the King of death, who punishe

Putting Deities To Sleep (Home Worship)

Before putting the deities to bed, bathe, put on clean clothing, apply tilaka, and perform acamana.

As far as placing the deity in the bed is concerned, if the deity is large and heavy, it is not possible to move Him daily. It is better that a small deity, which is also worshiped, be taken to the bed. This mantra should be chanted:

agaccha sayana-sthanam priyabhih saha kesava

O Kesava, kindly come to Your bed along with Srimati Radharani.
[Hari-bhakti-vilasa 11.40]

The deity should be placed in bed

The Real Fighting Is Now

On Speaking Strongly in Srila Prabhupada's Service

2514634414?profile=original

A need was felt to be more sensitive to the feelings of the public. Therefore an endeavor was made to inculcate a different mood, and present Krsna consciousness in a light considered respectable by the mudhas. As a result, our public lectures and temple classes nowadays tend to be mild. Full-fledged attacks on material life have become unfashionable, being perceived as a sign of immaturity or lack of intellectual development. Our movement has b

What is REAL LOVE?

GURUVAKYA

"People work so hard to build up a family and keep it united. But even if one successfully keeps the family together for the entire life, and even if there are some selfless friends and relatives who stay in spite of all life's difficulties, how long can they stay?

Eventually the time factor takes everyone away. Then where do all the friends and relatives go? They have left life and have gone to another new birth in another location.

This is the understanding that has been achieved in thi

vaishnava association

If there is one most precious thing in this material world ,I would say it is vaishnava association. Sadhu sanga lifts us up from the most fallen condition and quickly fills our mind and soul with happiness, faith and hope for the future. I have experienced the causeless mercy of vaishnavas over the past 8years ever since coming to ISKCON . Now, I cannot imagine life without them nor what would have been my fate had I not found them.

Not only have they helped me in overcoming spiritual problems b

Love Yourself!!

Many devotees are under the impression that we should love Krishna and
denigrate ourselves!

It is understandable that they think this way because there are many
statements that one may misunderstand such as:
1. Thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street
2. The soul is one ten thousandth the tip of the hair in size
3. The individual soul is tiny
4. One should be selfless
5. Etc.

Also we may come in contact with people who in the name of Krishna
consciousness authority denigrate us, telling us that

On Speaking Strongly in Srila Prabhupada's Service

Usually devotees lacking firm faith oppose strong preaching. Those influenced by worldly morality and public opinion think to measure the words of sastra with their mundane intelligence. Being inclined to compromise with maya, they want to avoid the fight that real preaching involves. Unless devotees are firmly committed to the principle of guru mukha padma vakya cittete koriya aikya ara na koriho mane asa -- accepting the words of the self-reali

I have been moved by this particular sentiment which Maharaj and other senior vaishnavas often express in many of the lectures. Tad Dhenu Kampam verse has been repeatedly extolled by great acharyas as the guaranteed way to attract Lord's mercy.

But it is in the practical aplication of this lofty principle, which I implicitly endorse wholeheartedly, that I find myself falling short. Very often a fear of the unknown takes a powerful grip on the mind and interferes with unconditional surrender and s

1. When, seeing my sincere and unwavering devotion to Sri Radha's lotus feet, a devotion filled with boundless love greater than the love He feels for His own devotees, will charming Krsna embrace me, take the betel nuts from His mouth and place them in my mouth, and place His own forest garland upon me?

3 Most Powerful Substances!

GURUVAKYA

"In the Caitanya Caritamrita, it is mentioned that three things can help us advance in Krishna Consciousness very quickly:

1. The Dust of the Lotus Feet of the Devotees.
2. The Water which has washed the feet of the Devotees.
3. The remnants of their Prasadam.

In India since sannyasis' bodies should not be touched by everyone and not at all by women, the wooden shoes of the sannyasi are often kept for disciples to touch. Ladies could also get dust from the Gurus feet from his shoes without

(Bhima) Pandava nirjala Ekadasi

Story source: Brahma-Vaivarta Purana

During the hottest season (northern hemisphere), if one can perform
upavasa without water one is performing a great feat. One may take only
charanamrita and achman water. Bhima requested one vrata day by which he
could obtain the fruits of all the other days of vrata that he was incapable
of observing.

Vyasadeva advised him to follow this difficult vrata.

One should worship the Lord in the evening by bathing him in milk. On the
dvadasi one should give full pots of wa
