Get Spiritually RICH!

Get Spiritually RICH!

"It is not required to live as a monk in the temple. Everyone receives benefit according to the faith and devotion he gives, whether big or small. Whatever devotion one has, he invests and gets profit. Thus one's capital accrues. Then he reinvests the enhanced capital. In this way one will very soon be Spiritually Rich.

To reside within a temple, one should be on the level of bhajana-kriya or anartha-nivrtti. But those living at home can be on any level, higher or lower. And

"Yes, but now there's TV!" Harikesa Swami piped up.

Prabhupada pulled a face. "TV, yes."

"How can you enjoy without TV?" Harikesa asked.

"Yes," Srila Prabhupada said sardonically. "How can you waste your time?"

Navayauvana said people say they need TV because they work so hard all day that they need to forget.

"Why should you work? If you have to forget, why should you take such nonsense things that you have to forget again? Why not chant Hare Krsna?" Srila Prabhupada said. He had alread

THE SPIRITUAL MASTER

The Spiritual Master does not equate PERFECTION...

The Spiritual Master equates SINCERE EXECUTION of ones Spiritual Masters
Instructions....

The Spiritual Master equates COMPLETE FAITH in Krishna...

The Spiritual Master equates ABSOLUTE LOVE for Krishna...

Just as in our material family, which one has personally chosen by karmic
design, one overcomes differences due to blood ties, so too in our spiritual
relations, as it goes so very much, much more deeper...

For KRISHNA has chosen my spiritual relation

The Supreme Bargain!

The Supreme Bargain!

"In America, some companies offer rebate coupons. This means that after a person has purchased the particular product, he is mailed a cheque of, say, twenty percent of what he had paid, or sent some other offer. But whatever price one pays in the market of the holy name, he receives a rebate of many, many times that amount.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is describing the Supreme Bargain. In the material world we give our love and faith to people, but they can hardly reciprocate a

The Limits of our Independence

To become Devas or Asuras is in the Limits of our independenceThe answer for this is also given in the Bhagavad-gita. It is said that there are two classes of men in the creation. One class is called the devas (godly) and the other class is called the asura (demonic or godless). As sons of the almighty Father Supreme Godhead, all individual living individuals have their respective independence. One can utilize this god-gifted independence properly or improperly. When a living entity improperly us

GURU SADHU & SHASTRAS

Guru, sadhu, sastra. These can always be compared, and they should never contradict. The sadhus are the servants of the Lord. And the scriptures are the words of the Lord. They do not contradict because Krsna is the center of all of them.

>>> Ref. VedaBase => The Guru: Via Media to God

Abstaining from auspicious work is called akarma. Both vikarma and akarma are bad.

Those who are addicted to akarma and vikarma are outcastes, ostracized from the four varnas and asramas of the varnasrama system.

Destiny is also described as time

Destiny is also described as timeHaving stated that the Supreme Lord controls this world, Jarasandha explains the specific method of control. It should be remembered that in the Vedic context kala, or time, does not refer merely to a system of measuring planetary movements such as days, weeks, months and years but rather to the way things are being moved. Everything is moving according to its destiny, and this destiny is also described as "time," since everyone's destiny is revealed and imposed

Why a living being should be restricted in sense gratification?

The question may be raised why a living being should be restricted in sense gratification. If a king, to learn how to kill, may go to the forest and kill animals, why should a living entity, who has been given senses, not be allowed unrestricted sense gratification? At the present moment this argument is put forward even by so-called svāmīs and yogīs who publicly say that because we have senses we must satisfy them by sense gratifica

Lord inclined to his devotees

Lord inclined to his devotees

The Supreme Lord Absolute Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna although equal to everyone still He is more inclined to His unflinching devotee who is completely a surrendered soul and knows nobody else as his protector and master. This conception of life having unflinching faith in the Supreme Lord as one's Protector, Friend and Master is the natural condition of eternal life. A living entity is so made by the will of the Almighty and, therefore, he is mostly happy by

High standard of living

Saying that our plan should be to simply accept Krsna's plan, which is approved and very easy, Prabhupada made a proposal. "Take any words of Krsna, it is very easy. What is your problem, first of all? Just consider, whether Krsna answers it. First of all, propose what is your problem."

"Well, my problem is that I have to have somewhere to live and I have to get something to eat," I said.

"Yes, that Krsna solves. Yes, Krsna says annad bhavanti bhutani: produce food grains. Y

Pakistan Prasadam Relief - CALL FOR HELP

Dear Prabhus,

I would like to know if there are any temples in India who are able to respond to the recent flood disaster in Pakistan.

The latest information from the New York Times states:

UNITED NATIONS — One of the largest humanitarian relief efforts ever attempted is now mobilizing to help Pakistan cope with what its government and U.N. agencies are calling the worst natural disaster in modern memory.

The death toll is much smaller than in past disasters: About 1,600 are believed dead so far.

The birth of Krishna is in itself a transcendental phenomenon that generates awe among the Hindus and overwhelms one and all with its supra mundane happenings.Mother Earth, unable to bear the burden of sins committed by evil kings and rulers, appealed to Brahma, the Creator for help. Brahma prayed to the Supreme Lord Vishnu, who assured him that he would soon be born on earth to annihilate tyrannical forces. One such evil force was Kamsa, the ruler of Mathura (in northern India) and his people we

The word Guḍākeśa has great significance which itself describe a devotee of Lord Krishna.

In this verse (1.24) Arjuna is referred to as Guḍākeśa.

Situation in Kali-yuga

According to the Vedic scriptures, our current age, known as Kali-yuga, is one of spiritual darkness, violence and hypocrisy. Srimad-Bhagavatam (12.2.31) records Kali-yuga as having begun when the constellation of the seven sages (saptarsi) passed through the lunar mansion of Magha. Hindu astrologers have calculated this to have been 2:27 a.m. on February 18, 3102 BC. This took place some 36 years after Lord Krsna spoke Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna.

The scriptures like SB 12.2 teach that during the 43
