Attaining peace from material miseries

Krsna says, "I am equal to everyone. I'm not envious of anyone, or I
am friendly to everyone." He's friendly, actually He's very friendly.
But people accuse Him: "Why God has created this distress? Why I am
suffering?"

But we are suffering for our own fault. God created you to become
happy. He's happy and you are part and parcel of Krsna so you should
also be happy. But we don't accept the way of happiness. That is the
fault.

Krsna says that you shall be happy in this way:
bhoktaram yajna-tapasam
sarva-lo

Only Chanting,Chanting & Chanting

The mind says "Can't, can't, can't" - it's the nature of the mind to accept and reject and sometimes we find our mind will reject the idea of chanting the Holy names.
Each day the mind may come up with many excuses and reasons not to chant or to put it off "Don't worry about this chanting, you can do it later...there are more important things right now" - heard your mind preaching like this?
What we can do is to ignore this internal dialogue and remember the importance of making Japa the number on

Instruction to two sannyasis

The pleasant idyll Srila Prabhupada enjoyed on his first night in the garden has been short-lived. Now, the temple management, and disputes between the leaders, are once again taxing his brain. He is always frustrated with the management here. Reports of gross over-spending are the cause of his present anxiety. Vrndavana is one of our most important centers and a great deal of money has been spent on the temple, and on a guest house that has not yet proved successful.

GURU

GURU

The word ‘Guru’ has been derived from two roots, ‘Gu’ and ‘Ru’. ‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. The one who dispels all darkness and takes you towards light is a ‘Guru’. The one who dispels the darkness of sensuous pleasures and pains (which are temporary and fleeting) and takes you to the light of eternal bliss (which is permanent and everlasting), is a ‘Guru’. The one who teaches you the art of taming the five wild horses – ‘Kaam’ (Passion), ‘Krodha’ (Anger), ‘Lobh’ (Greed), ‘Moh

Gopis from Guyana - The Times of India

The Jagannath Yatra is symbolic of unity in diversity, writes Mona Mehta

Much like a gopi from the Ragamala miniatures, Satyabhama, a 32-year-old Krishna devotee from Guyana, wore a green ghagra or long skirt and embroidered duppatta, teamed with a rust-coloured blouse. Swaying to the music of mridangam and cymbals, she chanted 'Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare', as she pulled the ropes of the Lord Jagannath's chariot in the yatra organised by the International Society for

Here is a nice story from the life and teachings of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur:
Once some devotees were sent to establish a preaching center in Bengal. They worked day and night, equipping it as a beautiful temple. When Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati arrived to install the Deities, he was very pleased and asked about one brahmacari who had worked hard on the preparations. The disciples told him, "Master, he became entangled with a lady. We rebuked him so much for his behavior that he

Modes Of Material Nature!!

attvam rajas tama iti gunah prakrti-sambhavah |
nibadhnanti maha-baho dehe dehinam avyayam ||BG.14.5||

TRANSLATION

Material nature consists of the three modes--goodness, passion and ignorance. When the living entity comes in contact with nature, he becomes conditioned by these modes.

PURPORT

The living entity, because he is transcendental, has nothing to do with this material nature. Still, because he has become conditioned by the material world, he is acting under the spell of the three modes of mat

Remembering Srila Prabhupada - Nandini

Nandini

Himavati dasi, Hansaduta's former wife, is also here in Vrndavana, staying at Bhagatji's house. She, Bhagatji and a German devotee, Hrmati dasi, all came to see Prabhupada in the evening to show him Hrmati's newly-born baby. Her husband, Atmavidya dasa, is driving from Germany to India with another bus. Their child, a girl, was born on Vyasa-puja, Srila Prabhupada's own birthday.

Laughing, Himavati eagerly came forward and placed the baby right on Prabhupada's lap. Prabhupada grinned as th

Inspired by the book distributors all over the world, I have taken up the project of placing Srila Prabhupada's books in all the libraries at the schools and colleges in the Fiji Islands -- more than five hundred libraries.

Every week at our temple I appeal to the guests to sponsor books for the libraries, and I also appeal for donations through phone, email, and personally delivered handouts.

On November 4th I delivered the following books to DAV College in Suva, and on November 11th I sent these

Recently we flew south from a preaching tour in North Queensland, Australia, since our house in Sydney had been sold and we were moving a thousand kilometers north to the New Govardhana farm. We left our van with some friends in Mackay, North Queensland, since it was too far to drive in a short time with a baby and a wife.

So we moved our possessions up north. After doing so much traveling and moving our household, I felt like resting a bit before flying back up to North Queensland to get our van

Sri Radhe-Krsna's playful pastimes (vihara) - Panihari-kunda

The Vrajavasis used to drink the pure and sweet water of this pond, and the gopa-ramanis would come here to fetch water. Therefore, this pond is also known as Panaghata-kunda. Krsna would come to Panaghata to meet with the gopis, and they too would eagerly make their way here to meet Krsna. While drawing water, they would become so absorbed in looking at Krsna that they were unaware whether or not they had filled their pots. The pot of

HARD WORK

Why is a highly posted government officer given better facilities for a comfortable life than an ordinary clerk? The answer is very simple: the important officer has to discharge duties of a more responsible nature than those of an ordinary clerk. Similarly, the human being has to discharge higher duties than the animals, who are always busy with filling their hungry stomachs. But by the laws of nature, the modern animalistic standard of civilization has only increased the problems of filling th
