Evening lecture

Devotees and guests gathered to hear Srila Prabhupada's last evening class in the temple. Srila Prabhupada had chosen to speak from Srimad-Bhagavatam, 6th Canto, Chapter 1, verse 12. The great sage Sukadeva Gosvami is speaking to Maharaja Pariksit:

My dear King, if a diseased person eats the pure uncontaminated food prescribed by the physician, he is gradually cured, and the infection of disease can no longer touch him. Similarly, if one follows the regulative principles of knowled

Initiated names

A few of the devotees that had just received initiation also took the opportunity of speaking with Srila Prabhupada.

Vrsa: As Gaura Mandala Bhumi and I entered Prabhupada's room, we found him in a very relaxed mood, reclining on his big bolster cushion behind his desk. We asked Srila Prabhupada the meaning of our names. Prabhupada told me that I was named after the bull carrier of Lord Siva. "But it is 'dasa'," he said. "Always 'dasa'."

Gaura Mandala Bhumi, Prabhupada explained, was

Remembering Srila Prabhupada - Janaka

Janaka

After the feast, Srila Prabhupada spoke with John and his wife, Carol in his room. John explained to Prabhupada that they had given their son the name Yenaka Betsoon -- an American Indian name meaning "Magic Boy from the Stars". Prabhupada, looking thoughtful, gently corrected them.

"Actually, you are pronouncing it wrong. It should be Janaka -- J-a-n-a-k-a."

Prabhupada explained that Janaka was the name of a great saintly king. The couple took heed of Prabhupada's advice and from that day Y

InitiationWhile in Sydney, John's little son, Yenaka, continued to display a childish, innocent eagerness for Prabhupada's association. Prabhupada noted Yenaka's enthusiasm as a positive sign of future spiritual success. In the afternoon, as Prabhupada sat behind his desk talking to devotees, the young boy ran right into the room, bowed down, and ran out. "Just see how eager he is," Prabhupada exclaimed with a grin.-----An initiation ceremony, held in the backyard of the Sydney temple, was to be

Whom do you love moreSince his initiation two years before in Sydney, Ajit had been contemplating returning to his native Sweden to preach Krsna consciousness there. Buddha is non different from Krishna....

Krishna is the source of all incarnations/expansions/planery expantions. Lord Krishna is the original Lord Vishnu.

Buddha is also an incarnation of Lord. But such incarnations are not considered to be very advanced in Vedic knowledge(Lord does His own ways). There was a special purpose of Buddha incarnation. So called brahmanas of that time were slaughtering animals on the names of sacrifices given in the Vedas. So Lord incarnated to take away people by preaching Non-violence.

Buddha asked peop

WHAT IS VEDIC CULTURE / HINDUISM

WHO FOUNDED VEDIC CULTURE

No one individual founded Vedic culture, nor is there any single prophet, holy book or way of worship. The Vedic culture has a library of texts to help establish the nature of the Absolute Truth. Hindus recognize the good and spiritual essence in all religions, so it is easy for them to display respect and tolerance for other spiritual paths.

Through the Puranic stories of the universal creation, we learn that the Vedic knowledge was first given by

Answers based on Vedic Wisdom- By His Holiness Srila Romapada Swami Maharaja

Q. My current obstacle is my family of birth, which does not support Krsna Consciousness and does not accept my devotee husband. For some background: I was born into a white Catholic family in America.  About 10 months ago I came into Krishna Consciousness and 4 months later married an Indian-bodied devotee.  We live in the US, not far from my family.  Previous to Krsna consciousness, I was very close with my family,

Thought Of The Day

It is advised, therefore, that an intelligent person associate with the great sages and saints who are on the path of salvation. By such association, one can receive instructions which are able to slacken the conditioned souls attachment for matter, and thus the intelligent man gradually gets rid of the illusion of matter and false ego and is promoted to the real life of eternity, knowledge and bliss.

WHAT IS VEDIC CULTURE / HINDUISM

When it comes to Vedic culture, more popularly known as Hinduism, many people find it difficult or impossible to define it in a concise or adequate manner. It differs quite a bit from the conventional and western monotheistic religions with which many people are familiar. Hinduism is pluralistic. In other words, it does not claim any one prophet or savior; it includes all aspects of God; it does not subscribe to any one philosophy or dogma; it includes various schools of thought and ways of unde

A Origem do Sectarismo

Thought Of The Day

One who has unflinching devotion for the Supreme Lord and is directed by the spiritual master, can see the Supreme Personality of Godhead by revelation. For one who does not take personal training under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, it is impossible to even begin to understand Krsna.
