Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad bhagavatam
"Yeah.. .i was also thinking in that way... I think that is the correct import of this verse... Since sensual pleasures are a womb of misery (BG 5.22)
Hare Krishna... "

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad bhagavatam
"Hare krishna Prabhu

Well said....but my question is how,  as this verse indicates,  overindulgence in lusty desires mitigates them since its only with bhakti do the lusty desires go away.. So I want to reconcile the apparent contradiction..  "

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"So like u said pingala and hippies got disgusted but not everyone can... It can take many lifetimes too... Is that what you want to say?"

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"I understand your point... Ultimately indulgence would bring misery only... So it s better that one voluntarily gives up and get attached to Krsna... So here mitigates them entirely means fully frustrated and fully detested ryt"

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"Still I am not able to get the point.... Since principles always remain the same.. Is there reference that this verse is not for Kali-yuga?"

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"So generally we quote the analogy of fulfilling desires like putting fuel in fire... So that wouldn't be an exhaustive one coz someone may quote this verse also for justification.."
May 15
Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"Yes... That's true.. But that won't imply end of lust since lust can be ended entirely by purification... What's your opinion regarding this?"
May 15
Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"OK.. I accept that this verse is not valid in Kali-yuga... But I am questioning the very existence of the possibility of the statement be it in any Yuga... Still you will have to come to the same point of reconciliation with the other verse... So m…"

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"Its not clear what you said... My question was lust can be mitigated entirely only by pure devotional service but how it can be mitigated entirely by overindulgence?"
May 15
Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"Hare krishna... I was thinking all of the lust would diminish but as you mentioned the variety of the desire would change... So here entirely refers to one type of desire??"
May 15
Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"So that means it's the devotional service, not the overindulgence that would mitigate lust entirely... Is that the right consideration?"
May 15
Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad Bhagavatam
"Hare Krishna... My question isn't regarding the validity of the verse... My question is regarding the objective possibility as to how it can be possible since lust can't be mitigated by indulgence as per other verses... So how this verse holds true.…"

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad bhagavatam
"Hare krishna
Very nice answer.. Now I understood it better... So the result of lust is surely like poison... So the person becomes detestful... Thatz a good insight...
Thank you very much... "

Apoorv replied to Apoorv's discussion Srimad bhagavatam
"Prabhu your point is that indulging in lust would ultimately end in frustration so his desires would be mitigated...so will they never emerge since it says 'mitigates them entirely'? "
