Thought Of The Day

Whatever a person may be in the estimation of the social order of things, if a person tries to reciprocate a feeling of love towards the Supreme Personality of Godhead and is satisfied with the blessings of the Lord, he will at once feel the highest peace of mind for which he is hankering life after life.(Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.6.6, purport)

There are two gurus–one internal and the other external. The internal Guru is Krishna Himself seated in everyone’s heart, and the external Guru is the Spiritual Master. So a sincere devotee is helped both externally and internally. To the sincere devotee the internal Guru Krishna dictates, but the thing has to be conformed by the external Guru then it is all right.Regarding love affairs in the material world: they are only shadows or reflections of the real love with Krishna. If you love Krishna

The Rose

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was inquiring of the older preacher.   The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possible have to do with his wanting to know the

Why Do We Have To Chant?

sanatana.jpg
A good question and one that sometimes remains lodged in our subconcious mind - lingering with us like a dark cloud when we wake up in the early morning.
We chant because our soul needs the purification of Krsna's association - we are trapped here in this body, thinking we are this person or that person....an American, Indian, Australian etc. By associating with Krsna through serious Japa - concentrated and precise - then we can feel His spiritual energy and we see a clear path ahead of us on our

Question: Is Global Islamization Anti-Krishna?

Dear Gurudeva,

All glories to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and Sri Krishna Caitanya!

Can you please clarify this for me: What is the difference between worldwide Islamization and Krishna consciousness globalization?

I.O.

Answer: Not If It Is Genuine Islam.

Since the real  meaning of Islam is submission to the will of God and obedience to His law, global Islamization and Krishna conscious globalization are exactly the same thing. B

Preaching at Tarrawarra abbey -1

Srila Prabhupada had been invited to speak that evening at a Cistercian Monastery in the small town of Yarra Glen. In the religious house, known as Tarrawarra Abbey, lived an enclosed Roman Catholic order of monks that originated from Europe in the eleventh century. A monk who resided at the abbey, Father Daniel, had been associating with Upananda for some time and had been reading Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It was Father Daniel who had suggested t

"Never mind how hard you fall, always remember to pick yourself up and get back on your feet."

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada .

Failures are stepping stones to success. But in reality it becomes very  difficult for us to face repeated failures. We may face one or two  failures, but when there are setbacks in every walk of life, then we tend to become morose and our morale goes down

Do For The Pleasure Of Krishna...

2514832932?profile=original

The reading of Bhagavad-gita and chanting Hare Krishna doesn’t mean you have to abandon professional life, it doesn’t mean you have to abandon professional ambitions. No, you can go ahead and go for your education as high as you want. You can go ahead and be as ambitious in your professional career. But do it for the pleasure of Krishna. If we work for the pleasure of the lord, even if we be in the material world, we will be free from the ill-effects of the illusory energy.

Being a senior member of a self interest group (called Gita Reading Group)
at our office, many a times, I had the opportunity for inviting & sending
out reminders to the relatively newer members, thanking them for their
participation and also inquiring about the reasons for their not being able
to make it for the meeting.

Everyone of us that failed to make it in time or not at all for this
meeting always had some reason or argument favoring their cause but, the
stark truth is: "We Want Anything & Every

Severe pain of birth

Kali Gandaki river Course

Ultimately, all the miseries are summarized in four things: the misery of birth... We do not... We have forgotten how much miserable condition we passed during our stay in the womb of mother, in a suffocated condition. You just imagine. Some of you might have seen the picture how the child remains within the womb of the mother. It is air-tight packed. And there are many germs who are biting the delicate skin of the child. And when the child is little grown up, at seven m

Killing is no solution for population but further miseries

Harikesa: Well we can solve the problem of birth by just killing all the children.
Prabhupada: (laughing) That is not solving, the birth is already there, therefore you are killing. (everyone laughing)
Aksayananda Swami: Birth is still there.
Prabhupada: No. Because there is birth therefore you are killing. So birth problem is not solved.
Harikesa: No, no, no. We're killing before birth.
Prabhupada: What is this before birth. Th

Prabhupada said:“Lord Krishna is acyuta – he is infallible. Acyuta – being infallible he will never fall down!”

But the living entity is potentially a spark – Krishna is fire and the living being is like spark. So a spark due to its insignificance, when it is in contact with the fire will also burn like fire! But, when it is not in contact with the fire then it will no longer burn like fire and will become extinguished. So, potentially the living being can extinguish its natural Krishna Conscious

Beware of Kali!

“As the Krishna consciousness movement progresses, Kali will constantly send agents to disturb the preaching, to deviate the preachers, or steal the responsible devotees and engage them in some other activity outside of the bona fide Krishna Consciousness movement. All kinds of destructive influences – too many to name – will try to disrupt the preaching. Especially those in the role of watchman must be vigilant and stop such dangerous contamination from entering and harming the market. (market p

Mercy......

Prabhupada said “ When you give Krishna, you get Krishna.” Give Krishna means- giving people transcendental knowledge and then you get Krishna’s mercy. That mercy is in the form of determination. You become more determined that “I am going to push on spiritual life come what may.”

Prabhupada on Gossiping

Your suggestion that the devotees visiting Vrindaban engage in preaching and chanting and not in gossiping is very good. We have sacrificed our life for Krsna's service, where is the scope for sleeping and gossiping? You can see in my example, not a single moment is wasted.Letter to Gurudas, February 5, 1977
