WITH PAUL ON THE WALK by Bhaktimarga Swami

13535133065?profile=RESIZE_584xPaul is staying with us in the ashram for a month, lives part time in Canada and part in Govardhan, India. He’s a filmmaker and has done some fine documentaries. Among other likes, he’s fairly bold at dipping like other polar bear dippers do, as well as walking.

Along with Karuna Sindhu and I, Paul took to a stroll through the iconic Annex of Toronto where homes are stately, typical of late 1800’s with that warm brick look. We ended up talking the whole way through and just didn’t get to that complementary practice of japa on our japa beads.

On Bloor, we came upon an eatery called Japas which has an adjoining yoga studio built into the structure, nothing fancy, mind you. A chart displaying the chakra climb is affixed to the outer wall, reflecting the progress a Kundalini yogi makes on the mystic journey. It’s just good to know the yoga, or union with Godhead, is on some people’s minds and that there is interest and it is growing.

Paul and I, in particular, talked about many things under the sun (ironically, it was an overcast day). He is certainly genuine in his spirituality and loved it when I read not only to him, but to the table of our men at lunchtime, some passages from a book, Prabhupada Nectar, all about our beloved guru who has so kindly blazed a trail for so many of us in achieving a happiness and safety that humanity seeks after.
