Remembrance of Krishna is Krishna’s Mercy

Pusta Krishna das: Today I had a personal epiphany, a realization that can help us all remember Krishna with affection.
I was reading a book by Pope John Paul II given to me by an acquaintance. It is entitled “Crossing the Threshold of Hope.” It is a collection of answers to questions posed by a religious journalist. One question was: How Does the Pope Pray?” in his answer, he says: “Prayer is a search for God, but is also a revelation of God. Through prayer God reveals Himself as Creator and Father, as Redeemer and Savior, as the Spirit who scrutinizes everything, even the depths of God. (a quote for Corinthians I 2:10) and above all the secrets of the human hearts (Psalms 43[44]:22.” And, “the Holy Spirit permits him to pray.” This immediately drew me into Krishna’s expression: I am in everyone’s heart, and from Me comes remembrance, knowledge, and forgetfulness
(BG 15.15). It led me to a flood of personal understanding….it is not I who is remembering Krishna, but rather Krishna Who is permitting me to remember Him, whether it be in the form of prayer or in the form of His Holy Names. It is a gift, an opportunity, that is granted by the Supersoul, the spiritual master within your heart.
As this is the case, then remembrance of Krishna is a personal form of His mercy upon us. We must take it when the opportunity arises, with full heart so that He will not make Himself hidden from us. It may be something that with our minute free will can take or leave, but we must hope for yearning for Krishna to increase more and more. We must welcome Him into our heart of hearts. Create a temple, as it were, for the living God within. Prayer, chanting of the Holy Names, discussion of Krishna consciousness with others, meditation of the Form and Qualities of Krishna, in every way, these are all Krishna’s mercy upon His jiva souls. May He be merciful to one and all, always.
