Preach Whenever You Can

On the appearance day of Lord Nityananda, I told a few devotees, "Let's go chant locally for an hour." We had a plan to meet at 5 p.m.

At 5 p.m. I didn't see anybody outside the temple ready to chant, so I went by myself around the corner. While chanting and playing karatalas, I met a guy I'd met a few months ago.

At that time I'd distributed a "Higher Taste" to him for a donation. This time I invited him to the Sunday Feast and also told him that this evening there was a feast.

That evening this guy came to the feast, and the next day he started chanting on beads, associated with the devotees, attended mangala-aratis for the whole week, had Tulasi-mala around his neck, had more prasadam.

What an ecstatic feeling. Nothing feels like that--seeing the person you invited coming to the temple and chanting.

A week ago I was shooting a video for a fitness competition. I went to West Adams street to shoot. Two ladies in their fifties--sisters--and one son around twenty were participating. After the shoot, I distributed to the ladies "Chant and Be Happy" and invited all three of them to a Sunday Feast. That evening I was in the prasada hall and saw the young man in line and later that day saw on Facebook that one of the ladies posted a picture of prasada and wrote under the picture that she is enjoying Indian food.

I was so happy that all three people from the shoot ate prasada. Later I met one more guy who was in my video, who said he is vegetarian. We talked, had prasada together, and he also met some other devotees by Krishna's arrangement.

A few days later I went to the fitness studio to teach dance to a group of people. There were thirty Spanish ladies and one man, the owner. After the class I distributed the Spanish "Perfection of Yoga" and invitations to our Sunday feast. By 8 a.m. I had distributed around thirty of Prabhupada's books. What can be better than starting your day this way? The ladies where happy and received the books with joy.

You can preach always and everywhere. Always have books in your car, in your bag, and that way you can always distribute.

Your servant,
Gopi Gita Devi Dasi
