ISKCON 26 2nd Avenue celebrated the 60th Anniversary of ISKCON with eight days of spectacular events. The festival ran from the 6th to the 13th of July. Over 20 Srila Prabhupada disciples were present, sharing memories. There were daily harinams to Tompkins Square Park and evening programs with kirtan, memories shared both in person and online, all ending with sumptuous prasadam.
The festivities began with Candrasekhara Swami, Gaur Kumar Dasa, and Yadunath Dasa cutting a ribbon and breaking coconuts outside 26 2nd Avenue, while Jai Nitai Dasa recited auspicious mantras. It was a blissfully intense festival, with nonstop appreciation for all that our dear Founder-Acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, has done for us and for all the wonderful feats he achieved.
Seating was premium during the festivities, with many guests standing outside the sacred storefront and watching online on their phones. One of the events featuring Radhanath Swami had to be moved to the Bhakti Center due to space considerations.
Many of the guests, such as Jadurani Devi Dasi, were returning to the dham after many years and expressed their deep appreciation for being amongst their godbrothers and sisters once again, where they all began 60 years ago.
