Following its debut earlier this month, ISKCON’s new documentary The Hare Krishnas: The Challenges of Succession and Leadership has received an enthusiastic response from devotees and friends worldwide. Released by ISKCON Communications in partnership with Karuna Productions, the film was created to mark the 60th anniversary of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s arrival in the United States—the historic moment that launched the Hare Krishna movement’s global mission.
What makes this release especially significant is its accessibility: the 32-minute film is subtitled in dozens of languages, making it viewable and relevant to audiences across continents. This multilingual feature allows devotees from India to Italy, from Latin America to Africa, to connect with the story of Srila Prabhupada’s vision for leadership and the Governing Body Commission (GBC).
“Many ISKCON members don’t know what the GBC is, how it functions, or why Srila Prabhupada created it,” said Kumari Kunti, Co-Director of ISKCON Communications in North America, who is interviewed in the film. “This project helps bridge that gap by showing not only what the GBC does but why it matters—now in a way that truly reaches ISKCON’s worldwide family.”
