Sometimes people want to know what I am about spiritually. I often think how could I explain to someone in a moment about our path of Bhakti-yoga or Krishna consciousness??

When someone casually ask what I believe in, looking for a nutshell understanding, they sometimes do so to categorize me. I really wish people would understand that there is only one Divine system in the Universe known by infinite names, and represented by many religions, instead of trying to think they h

Murwillumbah Home Program

2515238473?profile=original

By Ramai Swami

Rupa Raghunatha is well known to devotees all over Australia. He has been regularly going out on book distribution for over 25 years.

Some time ago he moved to Murwillumbah near our New Govardhana temple.

When gurus, sannyasis and senior devotees visit New Govardhana, he invites them for a program at his home. I received such an invitation the last time I visited.

Krsna has a deep personal relationship with every living entity and he is conscious of every thought the every living entity has – just imagine that! Krsna is unlimitedly great in this aspect. And so, Krsna enters into a deep personal relationship with every devotee and can become attracted and captured by their loving service. This is called sri krsna-akarsani – to attract Krsna by devotional service. This is our aim: to go deeper into devotional service and attract Krsna.

Krsna states in the

[I am continuing the reposting of this 5 part series.] AWAKENING BY GRACE, MOUNTAIN FATHER, REDWOOD TREE PROFESSORS: Growing up in San Francisco, Chris didn’t think it unusual or sad if the sky was overcast or foggy—it was just a different color sky, though he liked the sun too. In fact, in a general sense, even at the young age of four he began a lifelong pattern of not look forward to things, or thinking of too much about the past. Though he was learning to shut his emotions

As eternal servants of Krsna, our natural position is to render service. Our happiness lies not in any other endeavour, but only in service. As soon as we try to become the master ourselves, we are in an artificial position. Since we are not very good masters, we have to ‘pretend’ and start hiding our defects.

We start on the wrong footing. If we only started properly from an early stage in life, we would be strong. However, we do not. We pick up bad habits even before we are adults. Then, by t

How many of us are fortunate to have not just good friends, but close friends with whom we can phone at any time, and for no particular reason, than to simply share a Krishna conscious realization?

How many of us are blessed to be able to shed all institutional and scholarly roles, simply to sit down in an informal setting once in a while, and discuss none other than Krishna katha?

Does it ever occur to us sometimes, particularly if we are second initiated, that the services we try to render fo

Krishna The God of Varieties

2515238028?profile=original

From Back to Godhead

By Vamsi Vihari Dasa

Variety is said to be the spice of life. Imagine a life where you eat the same vegetables daily, wear the same clothes, meet the same people, and visit the same places. So boring, right? This world is full of varieties seasonal changes in the form of summer, winter, autumn, spring; periodic appearance and disappearance of the sun and the moon; cultural differences among people of different nations; the language, the dress, and the eating habits in diffe

WHY GAURA PURNIMA IS SO SPECIAL TO US?

Gaura Purnima is the auspicious appearance day of Sri Caitanya MahaPrabhu, also known as Gauranga due to His golden complexion. The Supreme Lord Sri Krishna appeared as Sri Caitanya MahaPrabhu to establish sankirtana, the chanting of the Holy Names as the yuga dharma for this age of Kali. This year is the 532nd anniversary of His appearance. Gaura Purnima is a very special day for us padayatris, because on that

Firstly the title of Bhagavad Gita is two Sanskrit words. Bhagavad comes from the word Bhagavan which referrers to the Supreme Personality of Godhead and 'gita' means song. Sometimes we hear the Gita referred to in English as "The Song of God," and this is a reasonable English translation of the title and it is a fairly accurate description of what the Bhagavad Gita is.

The Bhagavad Gita was spoken by Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, to His friend Arjuna on the battlefield of Kuruk

ISKCON has to be a very friendly movement. A very accommodating movement that is ready to give everyone a chance; ready to not find fault in others. To not find fault in others is hard. We may catch someone lying and say, “He is a liar! Shame! This person needs to be rejected!” Well, have we ever lied? Never, ever? That is a lie! So yes, even if we catch someone lying, it does not mean that that person has some weakness. It does not mean that we can say, “This person is a write-off! I do not wa

My Place of Worship

2515236977?profile=original

By ISKCON Mayapur

All of the devas, ṛṣis, and tīrthas congregate in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur to worship the Supreme Lord, for in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur – the center of the universe – Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa eternally reside and bestow Their benediction and mercy to those who worship Them there.

Is it any wonder, then, that Śrīla Prabhupāda stated that Māyāpur, the World Headquarters of his ISKCON movement, was his place of worship? It is described in Śrīla Prabhupāda-līlāmṛta that “[h]e and his devotees would worshi

Telangana Padayatra Still Going Strong

Walking in the colonies around Hyderabad

Last December, after a program in the town of Singapore our small Padayatra Telangana team slowly approached the city of Hyderabad. We are getting good response from the people and local temple committees. Good book distribution also. Community members are providing accommodations for devotees and supplying grass for the oxen, contrary to my expectations. I thought that getting accommodations and grass would have been difficult in the
