For the third consecutive year, just after kartik ends, Kirtan Academy will open its doors in Sri Mayapur Dham.
The course will run from November 20th to February
Our teachers are HH Sacinandana Swami, HH Brhat Bhagavat Swami, HH Kadamba Kanana Swami, HH Bhakti Purushottama Swami, HG Mahatma Prabhu, HG Rajendra Nandan Prabhu, HG Naru Gopal Prabhu and others.
The structure of the course is as follows:
1. Nama Tattva, as given to us by Srila Prabhupada in Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrita and further explained in writings of Bhaktivinode Thakur such as Harinam Cintamani and Bhajan Rahasya.
2. Practice: every week we have a 64 rounds day aimed at understanding the practicality and benefit of extensive chanting. These are often attended not only by the students but also by the senior devotees of Mayapur such as Pankajanghri and Jananivas Prabhus.
3. Conscious sadhana: inner meaning and execution of the most popular bhajans such as those sung during the morning program. This is a combined program between the music department and our own Dean of Academics, HG Doyal Gauranga Prabhu.
4. Introduction to Smaranam as means to deepen our focus on the Holy Name. In these sections, taught by HH Sacinandana Swami, HG Naru Gopal prabhu and HG Yasomati Mataji, we explore and experience the wonders of Krishna conscious story telling, at the original lilasthan when possible.
5. As the name of the course leeds to believe, our students also learn to play the instruments (mridanga, karatals, harmonium) and get the voice training along with the harmonium lessons in order to be well equipped to tastefully offer their devotion through the medium of kirtan. Our music director, HG Caitanya Cintamani Mataji, has studied Indian music, specifically harmonium and voice in Mayapur throughout her life. She is a second generation devotee raised in Mayapur. She works with the best mrdanga and harmonium teachers to make a marked change in everyone’s music proficiency within a limited 3 months period. Due to the nature of this course, the result can only be measured by your own commitment. Serious practice is essential for results to manifest.

- There are no pre-requisite, other than a sincere attitude for enrolling in this course. There are no age limits, we have had students as young as 12 and also in their 70’s who equally participated and benefitted.
- We offer accommodation coordination service. Contact us after September to discuss your specific needs and budget, at accommodation@kirtanacademy.com or kirtanacademy@gmail.com. Our accommodation specialist will be happy to help you. In the past we have assisted students in finding shareable apartments as a more financially wise alternative during their stay in Mayapur, from Kartik to Gaur Purnima.
- There will be an option to have nice prasadam together for those, who will desire to do so. For countries that do not issue sufficient tourist visa i.e. Malaysia, we can assist you with an invitation letter to come as a student from Kartik to Gaur Purnima.
