13727936657?profile=RESIZE_584xThe statement from ISKCON Communications said, “September 28, 2025 – The International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) extends heartfelt condolences to the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the passing of their President and Prophet, Russell M. Nelson. His life was marked by exceptional service both in medicine and in sacred leadership. Before his full-time church ministry, he was a world-renowned heart surgeon and medical researcher, serving as director of thoracic surgery and contributing broadly to medical science.

Beyond his professional achievements, President Nelson devoted over four decades of his life to guiding his faith community—34 years as an Apostle (one of the twelve men who serve as the highest governing body for the Church) and nearly seven years as Prophet (spiritual head of the Church)—leading with compassion, devotion, and an abiding faith in Lord Jesus Christ.

ISKCON also remembers, and will remain ever grateful, for the friendship and warmth extended by the Latter-day Saints to Hare Krishna communities around the world, from Utah to Washington, D.C., to Belgium and the European Union, and beyond. Most notably, we recall that members of the LDS Church offered a generous donation to help construct the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. This example, demonstrating genuine commitment to interfaith respect, cooperation, and support, continues to inspire both our communities worldwide.

We pray that this mood of mutual respect and cooperation will grow to embrace all faith traditions and that it will bring hope to today’s polarized world. And, in remembrance, we pray that President Nelson’s legacy of a lifetime of service, faith, and love will be a source of comfort and inspiration to your entire community at this time of sorrow and for many years to come.”
