ISKCON Croatia is rebuilding congregational participation and extending public outreach during the movement’s 60th-anniversary year. In an interview with ISKCON News, communications representatives Govindananda Das and Ishvara Puri Das described how recent in-person programs in Zagreb reflect a wider effort to connect decades of book distribution with sustained community involvement.
Priorities include sharing volunteer responsibilities, welcoming newcomers, and strengthening relationships beyond the temple, as the community adapts to changing work patterns and migration while maintaining its commitment to Srila Prabhupada’s teachings.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness was founded in New York in 1966 by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada; its Croatian yatra registered in Zagreb in 1983, then serving the whole of Yugoslavia. Govindananda directs ISKCON Croatia’s communications and serves in congregational development and conflict resolution. Ishvara Puri, formerly National Council chairman and head of the Croatian Bhaktivedanta Book Trust department, now combines communications with altar and kitchen service. Both are disciples of Sacinandana Swami.
