We want to thank all the devotees in Mayapur and around the world who are supporting this shift in consciousness, it is true, a new life is just starting! We invite all members of the community to be part of this new chapter! Sri Sri Radha Madhava is giving us the opportunity to cooperate with each other through the noble cultivation of their land in the Holy Dham. Gauranga Gardens is a new department of Iskcon Mayapur which has initially allocated approximately 3 acres for the cultivation of fruits and vegetables by and for the devotees of the community, and as we prove the effectiveness of this noble service to the land and the community, we can make this project last in time and be part of this new life that has just begun!
Every day at Gauranga Gardens is a novelty. Currently the area of land under cultivation is approximately 1.5 acres, we have planted and prepared seedlings of a variety of vegetables, melons, cucumbers, squash, spinach, okra, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, beans, aubergines, various varieties of flowers and herbs of the season, as well as banana, moringa, tapioca, etc.
We are now in the process of taking care of the new plants that are sprouting, we use inputs produced by our Zero Waste department, such as “vermi tea”, “wood ashes” “vermi-compost” and others to strengthen our crops, the Compost production is constant, the separation of the plastic is inescapable .
Our conditions are still precarious, we have installed an area for our children, now they can play in the sand and paint their own play area like bricks and others. We had installed a shade mesh but the early morning Nrisimha Chaturdasi storm has caused some damage and oversights that we are repairing again.
We need more tillage tools, we have recently purchased some and repaired others, but it is not enough yet. Regarding seeds, we are practically exhausting all the seeds in our common fund and soon we will need to acquire more, we are trying to collect some donations of seeds and we have the plan to allocate a space on the land to start the production of our own seed bank , using the best available varieties that we can find.
