While distributing books at a college, I met a really favorable kid named Edward. He told me he was a Bhakti Buddhist. I'd never heard that before and found it pretty cool. I gave him a set of books (seven different titles), and he gave a very nice donation. A few minutes later he came back and asked to take a picture together. We exchanged numbers and became friends.
Two days later, the Minister for Book Distribution, Vijaya Prabhu, was at the same school and met Edward again. This time he took more books from Vijaya, all the ones I didn't give him, including a Krishna book.Since the day I met him, he began texting me practically daily for the next month, asking very deep philosophical questions and raising doubts. I encouraged him to come to the temple, but he didn't have a car and lived a bit far away. Finally, on Saturday a he told me he was coming. We made arrangements so he could stay overnight.
He videotaped his entire experience and made a vlog of it. Before leaving the temple to go back home, he told me that his life has changed and how thankful he is for his experience. He now refers to himself as Bhakta Edward and even distributes books to others. He's visiting the temple regularly now, and is very happy. It's amazing to see a ripe person go from student to bhakta. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
A picture of him and myself is attached.
