There is a beautiful verse written in the avadhi language which reveals the greatness of unalloyed love to the Supreme Lord over years and years of attempt to understand Him through jnana marga.
H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj liked this verse very much because it gives the complete essence of pure bhakti as revealed in Srimad Bhagavatam and has written it in his notes.
sesha mahesha dinesha ganesha sureshahu jahi nirantar gaavain
jahi anaadi ananta akhanda acheda abheda suveda bataavain
narada se sukh, vyasa rattain, pachi hare taun puni paar na paavain
tahi ahir ki chohariyaan chachiyaa bhar chaach pe naach nachaavain
"Great personalities like Anantasesha, Lord Siva, Sun god, Ganesh, Indra - all of them always sing about this same Lord (Krishna). This same Lord Krishna is glorified in the vedas as the one who has no beginning, no end, unlimited, indestructible, without difference etc. Great personalities like Narada, Sukha, and Vyasa are exhausted from searching for Him — they can never fathom His limits. Yet, the humble cowherd girls of Vrindavan makes Him dance – for a sip of buttermilk from the palm of their hands!"
The gopis did not even recognize Krishna as the Supreme Lord. They just had unflinching love for Him and regarded Him as all-in-all. This complete dependency of the gopis on Lord Krishna made Him come under their complete control. This is the result of pure devotional service.
We heard a very beautiful pastime of Lord Srinathji in Nathdwar which occurred many years ago. In those days there was a sweeper who would be very busy engaged in sweeping the temple premises of Nathdwar. Every day he used to see thousands of devotees rushing to see the Lord and would hear from the temple hall the joyful chorus chanting of "Jai Srinathji", "Giriraj dharan ki jai", "Aaj ke anand ki jai". He had never taken darshan of the Lord being always engaged in his menial service. So he was wondering what is it that is making these devotees so happy and was hankering when he would be able to relish the same happiness of seeing the Lord. At that time, amazingly the bricks of a portion of the wall broke open and the sweeper could get the transcendental darshan of Lord Srinathji directly and attain the same supreme bliss. Till date that window is known as "The mercy window of Srinathji" and all the devotees pay obeisances to that place.
Similarly we also have the example of Lord Sri Krishna in Udupi temple turning Himself 180 degrees, to give darshan to the unalloyed devotee Kanaka dasa (from the back window), who was not allowed to enter through the main entrance of the sanctum sanctorum for his being of lower birth.
This is the victory of unalloyed bhakti of the Lord over all other modes of attempt to see Him or understand Him.
Let us pray to the Lord to attain this simple and humble love for the Lord in this life time instead of hankering to attain name, fame, wealth and other kind of material happiness in this world.
