Urad Dhal - 1/2 tspMustard Seeds - 1/4 tspChilly Powder - 1/2 tspSalt - 1/2 tspAsafoetida - ¼ tspGhee - 2 tbsTamarind Juice - 1/3 cupVendaikkai (Okra) - 1 poundCut the vegetable into small pieces and mix 1/2 tbsp ghee and microwave for about 5 - 6 minutes. Heat up another 1 tbsp ghee in a deep pan and add the urad dhal and mustard. After the seeds have cracked, add the okra and stir. Sprinkle some tamarind water all over and cover and simmer for some time. Stir once in a while and add the tamarind water in between. Cook until the color changes from green to a slight golden color. Add the salt and the chilly powder and simmer for 2 more minutes. Stir gently. This will prevent the seeds from coming out of the okra and will also prevent mashing the vegetable.
