President Obama lights "The White House Diya" lamp celebrating Diwali, as a priest chants in Sanskrit. It is followed by the President's special message. I edited this from his longer speech announcing the reincarnation of the White House Initiative for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders; he signed a bill afterwards. Apparently, famed DJ Rekha was also in attendance along with formal dignitaries.
