Brighton & Hove 9th Rathayatra along Hove promenade on Saturday, 9th September, 2010.Rathayatra means 'the festival of chariots' which attracts millions of people in Orissa, India. This annual event was introduced to the West by His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada about forty years ago. At this festival, the deities of Jaganatha, Baladeva and Subhadra were taken out from the temple and seated on the chariot, pulled by devotees and curious spectators during the procession.During this time, there were singing (kirtan), dancing and vegetarian food (prasadam - sanctified food) being served free of charge to devotees and non-devotees alike.The local devotees wish to express their gratitude to HH Atmanivedanam Swmai and HH Mahavishnu Swami for officiating the auspicious event, HG Parasurama and his team for cooking, HG Giri Dhari and the festival team, HG Nitai Charan and the pujaris for bring the Deities, HG Titiksu and everyone involved for making it happened, spreading Caitanya Mahaprabhu's message.Also, special thanks to HG Dharani Dhara Das and the local organising team, Sita Thakurani, Kishan, Len, Sherine, Katie and Richard as well as others who have not been mentioned but contributed in many ways for making this a remarkable event.
