Vertical & horizontal relationships

Vertical relationship means top to bottom (top down) relationship between Krishna and you. Once we are connected with devotional life. We will realize it.

Horizontal relationships means left & right relationships with you. These are the relationships with immediate family members like father, mother, spouse, kids...Etc. They form the Inner Circle. Outer circle consists of  friends, colleagues, neighbors.,Etc.

Sometimes we have a misconception that, we face difficulties in our vertical relationship with Krishna due to our horizontal relationships.

Sometimes others misunderstand us that we are giving more importance to vertical relationship (Krishna) than horizontal relationships. They may even complain that  "even I have served or loved you so much, why don't you give more time to me", especially those who do not have a proper understanding of devotional life.

It is very importance to have a clear understanding of both the relationships and to balance them. Tips to overcome these situations:

Kindly note that every bird has its own capacity to fly high with its speed & as per it's free will.

Do not compare other's spiritual inclinations or interests with yourself. Both are different and wonderful.

Have tolerance & try to facilitate growth in Devotional life of others. Understand his/her devotional feelings.

Try to customize activities for your near and dear ones because you know their mindset. Be sensitive as per time, place & circumstances.

Do not be at two extremes i.e either forcing too much or being too liberal to advance them in the devotional life. Give them their time & understand their point of view and try to leave with a positive note. Pray to Krishna & seek devotees' help.

Actually, both Vertical & horizontal relationships are complimentary to each other and not a competition.

Whenever you face any trouble in vertical or horizontal relationships, don't demand Krishna to solve the whole problem as per your way of thinking. Give Krishna a chance, to solve the problem as per His will. At the same time, do not forget to endeavour from your end to resolve the problem. Otherwise things are going to get worse and end up hurting each other not only at material level but also at spiritual level.

Scriptural teachings like B.G ,S.B&C.C.. Etc. tells us that we can only put our sincere efforts, but not with the attached results. We have to be fully convinced that whatever Krishna do, it will give us ultimate benefit.

When you try to help a person genuinely with sincere efforts to inspire them in their spiritual life, you will win their heart, make them feel happy and blessed
