The Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP) continues to make significant progress toward its planned 2027 grand opening, with major work now underway in the main temple hall. In their latest construction update, TOVP Vice Chairman Braja Vilasa Dasa showcased the installation of the hall’s elaborate marble flooring, centered around a large lotus design crafted from marble sourced from Italy, Vietnam, India, and Spain. The lotus symbolizes the spiritual world and surrounds the three principal altars that will house the Guru Parampara, Sri Sri Pancha Tattva, and Sri Sri Radha Madhava with the Ashta-sakhis.
The update also highlighted progress on the temple’s interior architecture, including the completion of the world’s largest religious dome, measuring 177 feet in diameter, which is expected to be finished this June. Extensive acoustic engineering has been incorporated throughout the structure, including specialized materials in the dome, pillars, and decorative cornice bands, reflecting Mayapur’s role as the “Kirtan Capital of the World.” According to Braja Vilasa Dasa, these features are designed to create an exceptional environment for congregational chanting and devotional gatherings. The marble flooring is scheduled for completion by September, while the main altars are expected to be finished by December.
