The world is a reflection of our own consciousness. What is there inside us, will be reflected outside. Its like, if we wear a black spectacle, then everything will be seen with a tinge of blackishness, although actually they are not. Same way, if I have a thinking process, then it is almost certain that we will try to adjust, others to fit into my thinking process, and if somebody don’t fit in, then immediately, we criticize them, blaspheme them.. A greedy person sees the world as a place for earning money, similarly a lusty person always think in terms of enjoying carnal pleasure. So, how we see thing depends upon our inner state of mind or consciousness. Things become worse when we apply our own perverted consciousness, to spiritually sanctified matter. To clearly put things at first place, there is nothing called as lust in spiritual realm. In spiritual kingdom, only and only love reigns supreme. In our international society for Krishna consciousness, we are expected to follow certain vows, one of them is not to have illicit relationship of any kind. Then some people will always be there to raise the question, why krsna had pastimes with gopis, why he had so many wives. If he can, then cant we? The answer is NO. Absolutely not. The reason is clear, as I already told, in spiritual realm, only love exists, there s no trace of lust. But , because we have put on the spectacle of lust in our eyes, everything we see, the perception is always lusty. To an extent, even we accuse God, of that, who is supremely pure and is the source of all that is auspicious. Krsna is bhaktavatsala, means he is very dear to his devotees. A devotee always wants to serve krsna in a certain way, like as a friend, as parent, as brother, as servant and similarly as a conjugal lover. Krsna’s dealing with gopis is almost same as his dealings with sudama or arjuna. These things are very difficult to understand until or unless we through out the spectacle made up of lust. Because our sorroundings , environment are so much saturated with lust, its very difficult to comprehend krsna’s causeless love. That is the reason why, srila prabhupada, the founder acarya of ISKCON emphasized on constructing temple and distribution of knowledge about krsna, so that the conditioned people in general , can come to temple, and have an environment of purity, devoid of lust, and by following the regulative principles(no meat eating, no intoxication, no illicit sex and no gambling), and being educated in the knowledge about krsna, can gradually replace the spectacle of lust with that of love. And the only and only method that is prescribed for the people of kaliyuga, to awaken the dormant love for the godhead, is the congregational chanting of the holyname..
