The family of Tariq Saleem Ziyad, affectionately known to many devotees as Pita Tariq, recently shared the sad news of his passing after a period of declining health.
In a message to friends and well-wishers, the family explained that after living with dementia for several years, Tariq was recently diagnosed with terminal blood cancer and entered hospice care. They expressed gratitude for the many messages of support, prayers, and affection received during this time.
While he was still under care, the family said Pita Tariq “is thinking of his relationships, and the time with so many of you has brought a smile to his face.”
The family later shared that Tariq passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 30, with his son by his side.
Following the announcement, members of the ISKCON Grihastha Vision Team paid tribute to a man whose kindness, wisdom, and dedication helped shape one of ISKCON’s most influential family ministries.
Tariq and his wife, Krsnanandini Devi Dasi, were founding members of the Grihastha Vision Team and helped establish its vision of strengthening marriages and family life within devotional communities. Although a practicing Muslim, Tariq possessed a deep appreciation for Krishna consciousness and Vaishnava philosophy as presented by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
