My dear Maharaji’s, Prabhuji’s and Mataji’s Please accept my most humble obeisnaces! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
By all your prayers, active support, we all were able to get 3,600 square feet land where Srila Prabhupada apperaed 175 years ago. In his letter which he wrote to his diciple and relative Shri Sankarshan prabhu, Srila Prabhupada instructed that a grand memorial should be constructed at his birthplace and we all should try to get land at his birthplace. Keeping this in mind and efforts of more than 3 decades, finally ISKCON got about 3,600 sqaure feet land last year and we all offered it to Srila Prabhupada on his 125th appearence day. But 3,600 square feet is a small land and also there is the Jackfruit tree due to which construction of memorial is not possible.
So we were following up with people around our land. The people living on the right side of the property which we own, have signed an agreement with a builder for construction of a 5 storey building. If this deals go then it will be impossible to acquire the adjacent land and Srila Prabhupad’s desire to construct memorial will not be fullfilled. Using our good connection with the government, we have spoken with the neigbours and they have finally agreed to give it to ISKCON. the land area is about 6.5 katha or about 4600 square feet. The total money we need to acquire this propety is about Rs 6 croers Rupees. Apart from this there is a 28 Katha (20,000 square feet) land which is just opposite to Srila Prabhupada Janmasthan and the owners are ready to give it for just 3 croers Rupees because there are people encroaching on that property, But once we become owner of this land we can slowly pay the encroachers and get this big land where a memorial can be buit.
ISKCON Kolkata don’t have such kind of money to pay and acquire these 2 properties which we can aqcuire now. If we delay the owners will sell it to others and we will loose this golden opportunity. We humbly appeal to the worlwide devotee community to kindly share this message with people/devotees who can help us purchase these 2 properties. Kindly connect the devotees who might help in this.
