13541456483?profile=RESIZE_584xMonsoon season is upon us, or so it seems. Rain has been coming down with not much of a break. It certainly makes for cooler weather, easier to work with, especially relevant to the current practice I'm having with our drama crew. Nevertheless, for some of the roles played out, a good sweat is the outcome. It is a good workout.

Before we start rehearsal, we do some warmup exercises, but to take it easy this morning, I asked my sound man, Chaitanya, to play Holtz’s composition “Neptune: The Mystic,” where actors were to pretend to be the galaxy.

“Chase your planet and move in its orbit. Roll on the ground if you can! Stretch! Move slow, steady!”

That was no sweat, right?

Relaxation did set in, and the cast is ready for action. As we move on from scene to scene, tweaking every move, every word uttered and so on, a confidence is built up. There is an assemblage shaping up. The feeling is good.

There is break time, breakfast or lunch, and that is always enjoyable. A nap and then we reconvene with part 2 of practice period despite a good run of part 1, the second part welcomes different moods. The mood may not be as enthusiastic. With some goodwill and drdha vrata, we overcome any stubborn hurdles. Drdha vrata refers to determination. Become present, execute dharma or one’s duty, and pay attention to details. We shall overcome!
