On October 3, 2025, devotees from around the world gathered online to honor Her Grace Hladini Devi Dasi, a beloved disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and a dedicated servant in the African preaching effort of Bhakti Tirtha Swami, whose extraordinary devotion, humility, and final act of fearless sacrifice continue to inspire generations of devotees.
Hosted under the auspices of Hare Krishna Africa, the gathering brought together disciples of Srila Prabhupada, Bhakti Tirtha Swami’s followers, and many who had personally served with Hladini Devi Dasi. The event was not merely a memorial; it was an offering of gratitude and praise for a devotee who lived and left this world in pure service to iburu and Krishna.
A Life of Tireless Service
Opening remarks reminded participants that while mourning is natural, Hladini’s life invites celebration. Senior devotees including Visvadhika Devi Dasi (ACBSP), Malati Devi Dasi (ACBSP), Rukmini Devi Dasi (ACBSP), Taruni Devi Dasi (ACBSP), Candramauli Swami, Radhanath Swami, and several disciples of Bhakti Tirtha Swami (BTS) shared personal memories and realizations.
Visvadhika Devi Dasi spoke tenderly of the early 1970s in New Vrindavan, where Hladini served as a pujari for Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra. “Her face reminded us of Lord Jagannath,” she said. “Her feet were cracked from austerity, yet she never stopped smiling. Service was her only ornament.”
