I need devotees help in how to become a better preacher to my wife. I am married to a non-devotee, but she is exceptionally supportive of me because I have woken her up to the spiritual life. She is a Psychologist by profession, and has an amazing grasp of the human mind. She is also trained in Reiki, and is naturally very psychically sensitive (she sees auras and can feel people's energies). Nonetheless, I have to tread carefully when it comes to talking about God because of her ingrained fundamentalist Christian upbringing (which she hated).

Recently she had a major spiritual awakening while we were on vacation. I took her to the Ratha Yatra festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which is about a 5 hour drive for us. It was her first time being around devotees. She really enjoyed it, and went from being sceptical about devotees to realizing that she has much in common with them. For example, she's been a vegetarian since childhood by her own choice. She refused to eat meat as a child even though her parents ridiculed her for it.

Then we went to Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and both had a past life regression done. For me, this was a very profound experience that completely put together many things I've always wondered about myself. Apparently in the life before this one, I was a Shivaite fakir who lived in India and smoked ganja and shared my meals with monkeys. I died from heat stroke and dehydration because I completely gave up eating and drinking. Reexperiencing this horrible death helped me to realize why I am so intolerant of heat, as well as my attraction to psychedelic drugs that I've had my whole life. My karma allowed me to take birth in the United States this time, where my only interests from that life, meditation and drugs, picked up right again at a very young age. In this life, I began meditating around age 12, and started taking LSD at age 13.   Now that I understand all of this, I will not make the mistake again of devoting myself to a demigod. I am determined to serve Krishna no matter what this time. 

Anyway, my wife had a similar profound experience with her regression, and now knows that reincarnation is a fact of life. She was raised a very strict protestant Christian, and had a very narrow view of spirituality until she met me. I know it's just a matter of time until she can fully accept Krishna Consciousness, and I take this task very seriously and must deal with her delicately so as to bring her to Krishna in a way she can accept. 

I'm learning a lot about preaching by doing this, and I'm trying hard to set a good example of what a Krishna Conscious household life is like. I don't have to work a karmi job, so I take care of the housework and her 3 cats and dog. I have all my time while she works to cultivate Krishna Consciousness by chanting and reading. 

There are no devotees in my area, so I aspire to within the next year rent a storefront down the street from our house and set up a preaching center. I've already been handing out copies of The Perfection of Yoga and the pamphlets On Chanting Hare Krishna and Krishna, the reservoir of Pleasure to people for free to test the waters here.

I humbly welcome any advice, prayers, criticisms, or any input at all as to how the devotees feel I'm handling things. I love this community and I hope Krishna blesses all of you who took the time to read this. Hare Krishna!
