Miss India 2009, and the Indian finalist in this year’s Miss Universe beauty competition—turned up at ISKCON New Delhi’s Sri Sri Radha Parthasarathi Mandir for a visit on November 3rd. The 22-year-old Delhi resident attended the arati ceremony and paid her respects at the temple’s three altars, housing Radha Parthasarathi, Gaura-Nitai, and Sita, Rama, Lakshman and Hanuman. While taking a tour of the temple’s art gallery, she showed her appreciation for the paintings and asked, “Who painted such beautiful pictures?”Choudary next visited the the temple’s famous multimedia “Vedic Expo,” with its walk-through sound and light shows, quadrascope, and animatronics. Spending twenty minutes there, she said she had never seen anything like it and praised ISKCON for using the latest technology to educate people in Bhagavad-gita and the Vedic Culture.Gopal Krishna Goswami then presented Miss India with a copy of Bhagavad-gita As It Is and described ISKCON’s efforts in spreading Krishna consciousness. When he outlined to her ISKCON’s Mid-day Meal Program, which regularly serves hot meals to more than 300,000 poor children in Delhi, Choudary expressed her desire to help.Miss India wound up her temple visit with a sanctified vegetarian meal at Govinda’s Restaurant, accompanied by Bhakti Vijnana Swami and his disciples. The ISKCON guru blessed her and explained ISKCON’s efforts in Moscow, Russia, to her. Impressed by ISKCON’s activities around the world, Choudary promised to visit the Society’s headquarters in Mayapur, West Bengal.
