Govinda Datta Dasa shares prasadam with first responders on their lunch break from battling wildfires, evacuating residents, and providing aid in Palisades, California.
Pacific Palisades, CA – January 16, 2025—In the wake of the devastating fires that recently struck Los Angeles, CA, a dedicated group of volunteers from Krishna Lunch So Cal successfully provided free lunches to first responders and community members at Pacific Palisades. Over 200 plates of nutritious and comforting meals were served to those in need.
“The first responders and community members were incredibly appreciative of our efforts,” said Govinda Datta Dasa disciple of Srila Prabhupada and founder of Krishna Lunch So Cal. “Giving back to society is at the heart of what we do, and it was heartwarming to see the positive impact we could make during such a challenging time.”
The menu featured a variety of delicious dishes, including rice, beans, vegetables, samosas, and a large drink. Special mac and cheese with chips were also available for children.
These efforts highlight the strength and solidarity of the Pacific Palisades community, demonstrating how people can come together to support one another in times of need.
Since its launch in January 2024, Krishna Lunch So Cal has distributed more than 25,000 plates of food (prasadam) to the students, staff and community in South California.
In their effort to continue providing nutritious and affordable meals to the SoCal Community, the team is actively seeking sponsors to expand its impact. Krishna Lunch So Cal believes that with the support of generous sponsors, they can ensure that no community member goes hungry, fostering a healthier environment.

Krishna Lunch So Cal
Krishna Lunch So Cal aims to provide low-cost on-campus meals and meaningful connections to college-age students and other SoCal community members as food insecurity sharply rises. Food insecurity among students in Southern California is a significant concern. Recent studies indicate that a substantial number of college students face food insecurity, with estimates suggesting that around 30-40% of students at various institutions experience this issue. Factors contributing to food insecurity include rising tuition costs, housing expenses, and limited access to affordable food options.
