September 4-7, 2026. HOUSTON

A vibrant celebration of music, color, devotion, and innovation filled the grounds of ISKCON of Houston as more than 12,000 devotees and visitors gathered for Janmashtami, marking the divine appearance of Lord Krishna. The 2026 festival also commemorated ISKCON of Houston’s 40th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of ISKCON in the United States, highlighted by the first drone light show ever hosted by an ISKCON temple in North America. This year’s festival was a part of the annual Kirtan Fest Houston – a 4-day festival that provided hours of kirtan (mantra meditation) attended by several singers from all over the world – including kirtan singers from Chile and Australia. On Saturday, a festival to glorify ISKCON’s 60th anniversary in USA and Śrīla Prabhupāda’s 130th Appearance Day attracted over 700 visitors – the largest crowd in Houston for this festival.

This year’s Janmashtami and Kirtan Fest Festival was co-sponsored by Hindus of Greater Houston.

“It was really a magnificent event,” said Sarang Thakur Dasa, ISKCON Temple President. “We had record-breaking attendance. Even during the day, we had almost 1,500 visitors come through to see the beautifully ornated Deities and the largest crowd witnessed the midnight Aarti to welcome Lord Krishna.”
