In times of unprecedented crisis ISKCON has evolved as an institution which is serving poor people by distributing food, providing spiritual strength through online sessions to fight the fear of coronavirus and also educating villagers of Nabadwip, the importance of maintaining social distancing and washing hands repeatedly. The devotees are also advising the people to follow the directives of the Government strictly. The devotees of ISKCON Mayapur have been distributing food relief under the name Food for Life ( FFL) on a daily basis to more than 2000 people who have lost their livelihood owing to the closure. “We are distributing food to the needy people belonging to different communities, along with food we are also advising them to follow govt rules and maintain social distance”, said Bhakti Purshottam Maharaj.

Suvendu Adhikari has also contributed a sum of Rs 2 lakhs from his ex-member of Parliament pension ac-count to help them provide further service to the people affected due to the pan-demic. Five vans are regularly plying huge quantities of food, escorted by local administrative authorities. The vans visit the most remote villages in Nabadwip where devotees distribute food to hundreds of people. A team of 6 devotees starts their preparation early in the morning so that by afternoon the food could be sent for distribution. Each van has two devotees who visit the villages. “The devotees are very enthusiastically participating in this mission as we regard the villagers as Dhamvasis who are very dear to our Lord Sri Chaitanya Ma-haPrabhu and its a service to them,” said Subroto Das Head Communications ISKCON Mayapur.
