The ISKCON Law Department held its first Law Conference in the Asia Pacific region. The Conference, held in Sydney, Australia, brought together a diverse audience of more than 25 devotee attorneys, those in the provision of legal services, law students, temple leaders, National Council members, and SABHA members from eight jurisdictions. Their shared mission was to explore the role of law in serving and protecting ISKCON for future generations and expansion.
Led by ISKCON General Counsel Devakinandan Das from Singapore, the three-day Conference featured legal presentations and workshops on ISKCON-related topics (such as property and asset protection, child protection, learning from past cases, dispute resolution, and the implementation of legal safeguards). Participants enjoyed sumptuous prasadam, devotee association, a visit to the ISKCON Sydney Temple, and a delicious dinner hosted in Govindas Darlinghurst by Pratapana Das.
This conference was the law department’s fourth conference, and the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere. We are confident that Srila Prabhupada will be pleased by this humble offering to protect his movement for generations to come.
