This is to cordially invite you to participate in the 33rd annual Jagannath Rathayatra festival organized by ISKCON Baroda, that will be observed on Sunday, June 29, 2014, that corresponds with to the annual Rathayatra day at Puri, the "aashaad shukla dvitiya" tithi.
Certainly this festival has one of the largest public participation of any of the Rathayatras organized by ISKCON, worldwide.
Most of Baroda's political leaders, including Gujarat State Education Minister Saurabh Patel (the "no. 2" Minister in the new Anandiben Patel BJP led Gujarat State Government) who is our local MLA, will attend as he did last year, along with Baroda Mayor Sri Bharat Shah, etc., etc.
Last December I remember a discussion I had with one of our seniormost respected leaders, wherein I queried: do they distribute 15,000 kgs of halava at the XYX Rathayatra?
Well, we have been distributing 15,000 kgs -- yes, that's 15 TONS -- of halava, cooked in "deshi ghee" to the public from trucks that follow behind Lord Jagannath's Rath for the past 6/7 years now! The crowds that turn out to have darshan of Lord Jagannath's Rath have to be seen to be believed!
This year were are extremely pleased to announce the participation of HH Lokanath Swami Maharaj in the Rathayatra festival. Maharaj will also address the annual Rathayatra press conference on June 27, and lecture here in the temple room in the evening of the same day (June 27).
As has been the case for the past many, many years, HH Bhakti Vikas Swami will also participate in the Rathayatra festival. After the festival, Maharaj will lecture daily in the temple room from June 30 through July 2.
ISKCON Gujarat Chief, Sriman Jasomatinandan Prabhu has confirmed his participation in this year's festival. Also Sriman Devakinandan Prabhu, ISKCON Global Minister of Fund Raising and ISKCON Zonal Secretary for Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bombay, Sriman Braja Hari Prabhu, Temple President of ISKCON Juhu, Sriman Vrajendranandan Prabhu, ISKCON India Communications Director and Vice President of ISKCON New Delhi, Sriman Surapati Prabhu, TP of ISKCON Lucknow, and Sriman Bhaktivinod Prabhu, Co-TP ISKCON Chandigarh, have all confirmed their participation.
