I made a visit to the Mayapura district hospital to see for myself the expansion and to offer encouragement to staff and the visionaries behind the project. The project manager is Hari Lila, a good friend. When he came to Canada for a fundraising tour, I introduced him to Scarborough Bluffs off of Lake Ontario. It was summertime. The weather was beautiful and the water really clean. We played the game ‘Hari Ball’ with the boys of Bhakti Academy. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Plans with the adjoining land is to construct a building for ‘end-of-life care’ and also to include a crematorium. So, we can see that life’s setup is underway for the Mayapura community. According to Hari Lila, the hospital project will be completed next year. A balance of 1 million dollars is required to realize this dream. My contact is dentist, Keshava, who spends a good chunk of the year in Brampton, Ontario.
Like never before, we have experienced a good portion of rain which brings down the temperature and also makes the path muddy for our daily japa walk. No one on our team seems to mind, though. Careful stepping is the way forward.
A good number of our devotees from Kolkata have gone back for work. The balance, a dozen or so, were happy to spend time with their guru and have an extra class, as I obliged. Under the banyan tree we went.
