FLORIDA FREEZE by Bhaktimarga Swami

 I packed swimming trunks

Not a restriction for monks

Anticipating a dip in the springs

After tightening the drawstrings

 Once I arrived in Tampa

Felt a freeze known by Santa

There were the usual bearded trees

The Spanish moss, but strange breeze

An Arctic vortex hit the land

My dreams for dipping totally canned

Even alligators do not prefer

For them cold waters – not secure

It’s Canada’s attack on the US, this cold

Trump’s trying to buy it, he’s bully bold

Well, we’re not up for sale, Dear Sir

We don’t appreciate the excrement stir

In Krishna’s temple, people bundle up

No one is angry, no trace of burnup

Floor tiles too frigid, try to survive

Huddle together, like in a beehive

 To Tampa, Deland, Alachua, Gainesville

All southern destinies were on a chill

Wherever rain or snow have poured

Floridians have been fine and on board

I have been to plenty of devotee sanghas

While outside folks talk of rhumbas

Pirates are parading conjuring up the past

But nothing ever measures up to a bhakti blast

These lower temperatures have their place

They humble and make you more than an Ace

Dualities are truly up and down

An effect which kicks off false crowns
