We serve approximately 100-120 students from nursery to grade12. Students regularly use the library for research and independent reading materials.
Sri Mayapur International School seperated the campus for girls and boys aged 11 and above last year which severly affected the reading habits of the students on the boys side.Lack of funds prevented us from setting up a library on the boys campus. For many students the school library is their only source of free reading material as well as access to research materials for academics and the Bhakti shastri course, which is part of the curriculum.
High interest books are always needed to help pique the interest of students who avoid reading. Those students who enjoy reading constantly need new selections (and these students often motivate others who might otherwise read only when it is required of them.Reading can change their lives.Many a thousand lives have changed after reading Srila Prabhupads books).
Trying to cover the basics and absolute necessities like staff salaries, our first priority has been maintaining quality services. In such a difficult environment, it is sadly easy to see books as luxuries that we cannot afford at this time. Any assistance from devotees and generous donors will greatly assist the program with supporting reading among the children.The goal is to establish a library that is fully integrated into the curriculum, and has a favourable impact on improving the student's proficiency.
Aside from struggling readers, over 90% of our students are English as a second language students.The devolopment of reading skills is integral to the curriculum in our school.In order to establish a comprehensive library we require a full set of Srila Prabhupads books and other books approved by the Vaishnava Society.Kindly donate in cash and preferably in books to our Library.If you are a publisher or an author please donate 2 sets of books you have published or written.Donations in cash can be sent to
