It is with a heightened sense of melancholy that I inform you all of the passing of His Grace Shyamlal dasa, a dear sincere disciple of His Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, who departed this material world on January 5th 2014.
Born on March 19th 1954 in Nabadwip, His Grace Shyamlal dasajoined the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Kolkata in the early seventies. His Grace Shyamlal dasa is one of Srila Prabhupada’s first Indian bodied Bengali, disciples. Initially, His GraceShyamlal dasa served with Gargamuni prabhu performing sankirtan and life membership in India. Subsequently, His Grace Shyamlal dasa was sent to Africa to launch life membership collection and eventually settled in South Africa in the early 1980′s.
Through his sensitive and conscientious cultivation of relationships, His Grace Shyamlal dasa effected thousands of individuals into the family of ISKCON and assisted with the development of ISKCON projects both in South Africa and internationally.
