Time was passing!

The sound of fans as usually was the prominent sound as like cars in Mumbai streets.

Every one of Devotees were sitting before the computer and doing their service.

But suddenly! All sound disappeared. It became darker.

And this peace told us that POWER HAS GONE!

-          Oh Gopinath!

-          Oh Madhav!

-          Oh Giridhari!

-          Oh Govinda! …

And etc were the guilty responses of my friends according to their beloved Forms of Krishna.

Since our duty really was not possibly to be done without power we did not know what to do for some time. Then Pusta Gopika Mataji took the wet cloth and started to clean the computers which we use. Another Mataji took brush and brush dust from inner parts of these computers. Then another Mataji took broom and clean the floor from dirt which was falling from up…

There are 8-10 unmarried, young Matajis and few Devotee couples render service in this ISKCON Desire Tree web site. All of them work very seriously from morning till late evenings.

Some edit lectures, removing from them unwanted places, increasing, decreasing voice of a speaker or wrong recording. Some edit photos for harekrishnawallpapers.com web site. Some collect recipes from Devotees all around the world. Some edit those recipes, find suitable images and upload them on the totalveg web site. Some create web sites with the knowledge of HTML, PHP, Java Script…Some even draw paintings and make cartoons, different creative wallpapers…Some collect videos and edit them. Some do other many, many services helping in this way to Shrila Prabhupada and Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in their preaching mission.

So cleaning went on for 30-40 minutes. But power did not come. Then they sat in circle and started to chant the Holy Names. When I saw and heard them it was like honey bees were eagerly collecting honey from the bead bags which each had in their hands.

Seeing them I also sat with them and tried to drink nectar which they collected.

1-2 more hours past. Rounds were completed BUT power did not come. Then we took Harmonium, Mridanga, Karatalas and sitting on the floor all started to do Kirtan. Leading kirtanier Parampara Vani Prabhu was playing in Harmonium, Archana Mataji played in Mridanga and Pusta Gopika Mataji played in Karatalas and all others clapping their hands glorified the Holy Names of the Lord.

I thought:

“Oh my God! In which job place I could ever have such like a ‘coffee break?’ – of chanting the Holy Names of the Lord, not loosing a single moment for useless gossips???!!!”

In this way we waited for 4 hours for power to come. But we were informed that power was not there in whole area of Mira Road. So after waiting for a long time many Devotees had to leave to their homes.

Only after 4 PM power came and still some Devotees came back and performed their duties up to late hours.

Devotees work for Krishna. Devotees do their work knowing that Krishna is All Seer! He knows everything. And when we do one step towards Him He does 10 steps towards us. Devotee is interested only rendering selfless and SINCERE service to the Lord and to His Devotees.
