Akshaya Tritiya - The Special Day to Give Charity
“The Lord is the bestower of all benediction. If someone gives something to the Lord, he is not the loser; he is the gainer by a million times.” – Krishna Book, Lord Krishna blesses the fruit vendor.
Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Greetings from Sridham Mayapur, and blessings from Panchatattva, Sri Sri Radha-Madhava and Sri Nrsimhadeva.

9th May 2016, Monday is one of the most important days in the Vedic calendar, which is Akshaya Tritiya. Akshaya tritiya, according to the Vedic calendar, is a day considered to be conducive to success in any significant endeavour. Lord Parasurama appeared on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, and it is also the day that the Mother Ganga descended to the earth. It is the beginning of Candana-yatra. Many pastimes of Lord Krishna also took place on this day showing the Lord’s generous and intimate dealings with His devotees.
Akshaya Tritiya means the day or tithi which is indestructible. Any service or charity one performs on this day will be rewarded back many times over. Sudama gave the Lord a tiny portion of chipped rice and was rewarded with untold opulence. The Fruit vendor offered all the fruits to the Lord in exchange of few handful of grains from baby Krishna’s hands. Surprisingly he saw that his whole basket of fruit had filled with jewels. “The Lord is the bestower of all benediction. If someone gives something to the Lord, he is not the loser; he is the gainer by a million times.” – Krishna Book, Lord Krishna blesses the fruit vendor.

Since the time of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Mayapur has been a place for learning Gaudiya Vaishnava scriptures. It was a highly reputed place for scriptural studies. Our Acharyas, especially Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura and Srila Prabhupada desired to re-establish Mayapur as an international center for spiritual education related to sastric studies. Based on the vision of our Acaryas, The Mayapur Institute was established.

Through this donation you will become an instrument in fulfilling Srila Prabhupada’s dream which he mentioned in a letter to Atreya Rishi Pr – “Throughout the whole world there is no institution to impart education in the matter of spiritual understanding. So we are going to open a big center in Mayapur where this education will be internationally imparted. Students from all parts of the world will go there to take education in this important subject”.

Currently, MI has embarked on building a new campus to facilitate training and education to more and more students from across the world, in order to fulfil Srila Prabhupada's above vision. We would like to offer the first phase of this project to Srila Prabhupada on ISKCON’s 50th Anniversary this year. We seek support from every individual across the globe to complete this noble project.

So, please consider taking advantage of this auspicious occasion by making a contribution on this most auspicious day.
