Vaisnavi Retreat

Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Hare Krsna!

On behalf of the Vrindavana Institute for Higher Education, we are heartily inviting you to take part in the upcoming third International Vaisnavi Retreat, to be held at the foothill of Sri Giriraja Govardhana from March 30 to April 3, 2013.

The Vaisnavi Retreat was started in 2011 with the idea of promoting spiritual association among female sadhakas. It focuses on hearing and chanting

It is too easy to be nice with someone who is good to us. But how difficult it is to deal with those who are nasty to us? Tolerance is celebrated as a divine quality and intolerance is touted as the weapon of the demoniac. We long to develop the quality of ‘tolerance’ but we easily succumb to intolerance when confronted with unpleasant situations and circumstances. After venting out our inner angst we realize our mistake but sadly it is too late by that time. But why do we lack ‘tolerance’? Theo

Every problem always has two solutions.  One of the solutions solves our problem permanently and the other gives an impression that the problem has been solved. When Vidura was rebuked and humiliated by Duryodhana just before the onset of Mahabharata war then Vidura did not react angrily. Instead of confronting the arrogant Kauravas, Vidura left in search for higher truth. He went on a pilgrimage; he visited several holy places and met several holy men including Uddhava and sage Maitreya. When V

So we are, at the present moment in different conditions of life on account of our different activities, pious and impious, dharma, adharma. So pious activities means to be controlled by Krsna, and impious activities means to be controlled by maya. We have to be controlled. Our position is such that we cannot become controller. That is not possible. If we want to become controller, that is my artificial desire. And the resultant action we will have to suffer. First of all you must understand thi

“100 Monkeyz” is the story of a modern-day ksatriya, an autobiographical memoir of a Viet Nam vet with PTSD, written from a jail cell where the author, a Hare Krsna devotee, is currently serving consecutive life sentences.

This memoir narrates the adventures and maturation of a troubled boy about to become a man on the battlefields of Viet Nam in the 1960’s. We are led through the towns and villages of Viet Nam where as a young soldier and combatant in that country’s war, the auth

Book Distribution Bus Party Part – 02

We were 7 people on the bus party to Amravati, a district in Maharashtra state of India. This happened in a village called Shirajgaon. I was doing door to door book distribution and seeing a mediocre response I decided to do go for the banks and offices. I came to know that there is a local Maharashtra bank at walking distance from my location. so I was knocking doors and enquiring from the villagers. It was 11am. Mostly the village streets go empty after 10a

So, one has to suffer or enjoy. There are two things. So that is according to our activities. That we can practically experience. If one is educated, naturally, he gets a good position, and if one is criminal, he gets another position. There is no difficulty to understand. So there are two things, dharma and adharma. Religiosity and irreligiosity. Religiosity means to abide by the orders of God and irreligiosity means to disobey the orders of God. That's all. Simple thing. But in this connection

As a spiritual seeker we often find ourselves at loggerheads with our own thoughts. Although deep within our heart we try to come closer to God but our past conditioning pulls us down. We find ourselves constantly being defeated by our own old bad habits which we had nurtured earlier knowingly or unknowingly. Often finding ourselves torn apart between two divergent thoughts we start questioning our pursuit for spiritual upliftment. However instead of getting cowed down by the frequent setbacks w

So by the culture of this Krsna consciousness, one comes to the sattva-guna, the immediate effect, sattva-guna. Just like our students: little association with this Krsna consciousness movement, they immediately come to the sattva-guna, at least officially. Although rajo-guna, tamo-guna, was there, but it overlaps.

If your stomach is ill, you would be ill and if your stomach is healthy, you would be healthy. The mother of all illness is stomach and health is stomach. Healthy stomach, better personality, ill stomach, deformed personality. These are some of slogans, which express the feelings of many of the famous experienced medical practitioners about the mother of all diseases.

In case of any disease, have natural treatment of stomach with patience and sure you would get better health. Thus, naturopathy is

Yes, if our success thrives on others miseries. Our success is mostly comparative in nature.  A student gauges his success by seeing if he has scored more than his peers or not, we get dissatisfied with our jobs when we find that our colleagues are earning more than us. Thus caught up in the quagmire of comparison we hardly feel inner satisfaction and serenity.

We see that Duryodhana had everything in his life. Being the son of the king of Hastinapur his all demands were immediately met with. He

So in our, this human form of life we should be very careful, and what is ordered that "You should do like this..." Just like if you go to a medical man, so if you are diseased, a medical man, physician, will give you a prescription that "You take this medicine, and you do not take this kind of food. You can take this kind of food." Ahara-pathya. So if you want to cure your material disease, then two things are required: the medicine and the food. It is called pathya. The proper food and proper
