Garbhadhana-samskara, is the first and foremost of all the samskaras (16 or shodasa) that one should follow according the Vedic scriptures. Vaisnava acharyas have laid great emphasis to this. Srila Prabhupada comments that to become a pure devotee two things are required: Birth in a pious family and secondly, the blessings of spiritual master.
