The state of self-surrender to Lord Krishna has many symptoms, of
which the most prominent symptom is humble acceptance of anything
related to Krishna. For example, if a self-surrendered soul sees an
animal in pain, he/she considers first that the Supreme Lord is
seated in the Heart of all beings, and thus remembering Krishna, the
person tries to help the animal in pain. This service may extend to
any other being in pain. A Vaishnava's true quality is the ability to
see the pain of others, and to feel it so closely that he/she does
everything possible to help.This attitude of service to Krishna
indirectly by serving the beings in pain, is a very good attitude,
and is not necessarily limited to Vaishnavas, but is most often found
in Vaishnavas. A vaishnava who doesn't feel the pain of another being
is pretending to be a Vaishnava. The life of a true Vaishnava is very
hard in the beginning. He/She has to put up with lots of materialistic people's
idiosyncracies(A mode of behavior or way of thought peculiar to an individual), often to the point of accepting pain upon himself/herself. By
accepting pain for the sake of others, a Vaishnava elevates himself further in
Bhakti.No pain no gain!
Bhakta Prahlad Maharaj faced tortures and tests for his Bhakti, yet
he did not develop hatred for his demoniac father, so eventually it
was the Lord himself in the form of Narasimha Deva, who came to help
Bhakta Prahlad. Vaishnavas like Bhakta Prahlad are not easy to find.
Srila Prabhupada has himself suffered so much and that too at such an
old age. He travelled with a suitcase of books across the oceans,and
for two months he faced two heart attacks, without even having proper
medical facilities and qualified heart doctors to attend to him. His
is the life and sign of a true devotee. All Glories to Srila
