NBS # 5 Nityananda Trayodasi - Special Edition

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!  All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

On the most auspicious occasion of Nityananda Trayodasi, we have put together this special edition of NBS. In this issue, we have covered:

1)    Nityananda Prabhu - The most munificent incarnation
His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

2)    If you do not believe in Lord Nityananda, you will fall down
Srila Krishna das Kaviraj Goswami

3)    The Divine Command of Çré Godruma-Candra”
Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur

4)    The Glories of Lord Nityananda
Srila Vrindavana Das Thakur

Srila Prabhupada says: ‘’Nityananda Prabhu is guru-tattva, and Caitanya Mahaprabhu is sevya-tattva. The guru is teaching, Nityananda Prabhu is teaching how to worship Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

bhaja gaurāńga kaha gaurāńga laha bhaja gaurāńgera nāma re

jei jan bhaja gaurāńga bhaje, sei hoy āmāra prāṇa re

This is Nityananda Prabhu's business’’ (Mayapur, March 7, 1974)

Lord Nityananda is the first preacher in this Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s movement. His mercy has manifested as the Gaudiya Vaisanav sampradaya. Of course it is the mercy of both Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda. As Locana Das Thakura sings parama karuṇa, pahū dui jana nitāi gauracandra The two lords Nitai-Gaurachandra are very merciful. The two are inseparable.  We can best worship Lord Nityananda  by worshipping Lord Caitanya; and we can best worship Lord Caitanya by worshiping Lord Nityananda. We can best worship both by chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

We pray at the lotus feet of Guru and vaisanavas that this issue brings some pleasure to the devotee community.

--- Stop Cow Killing ---

Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu said to Kazi : ‘In this Age of Kali, five acts are forbidden: the offering of a horse in sacrifice, the offering of a cow in sacrifice, the acceptance of the order of sannyāsa, the offering of oblations of flesh to the forefathers, and a man’s begetting children in his brother’s wife.’

“Since you Muslims cannot bring killed cows back to life, you are responsible for killing them. Therefore you are going to hell; there is no way for your deliverance. “Cow-killers are condemned to rot in hellish life for as many thousands of years as there are hairs on the body of the cow.

“There are many mistakes and illusions in your scriptures. Their compilers, not knowing the essence of knowledge, gave orders that were against reason and argument.”

After hearing these statements by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the Kazi, his arguments stunned, could not put forward any more words. Thus, after due consideration, the Kazi accepted defeat and spoke as follows.

Kazi said: — “My dear Nimāi Paṇḍita, what You have said is all true. Our scriptures have developed only recently, and they are certainly not logical and philosophical. “I know that our scriptures are full of imagination and mistaken ideas, yet because I am a Muslim I accept them for the sake of my community, despite their insufficient support. “The reasoning and arguments in the scriptures of the meat-eaters are not very sound,” the Kazi concluded.

what is surrender?

The process of taking shelter is described in the Vaiṣṇava-tantra—
ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ prātikūlya-vivarjanam

rakṣiṣyatīti viśvāso goptṛtve varaṇaṁ tathā

ātma-nikṣepa-kārpaṇye ṣaḍ-vidhā śaraṇāgatiḥ

Translation: Accepting that which is favorable, rejecting the unfavorable, believing that Krishna will save me, accepting Krishna as one’s maintainer, self-surrender and humility are the six types of sharanagati.

Bhaktivinode Thakur—
bhakti anukūla jāhā tāhāi svīkāra
bhakti pratikūla saba kari parihāra
kṛṣṇa bai rakṣā-kartā āra keha nāi
kṛṣṇa se pālana more karibena bhāi
āmi āmāra jata kichu kṛṣṇe nivedana
niṣkapaṭa dainya kari jīvana yāpana

Translation: Accept whatever is favorable for devotion; reject everything that is inimical to devotion. There is no protector other than Krishna. O brother! Krishna will protect me. I offer myself and everything I possess to Krishna. I go through life with sincere humility

Why do we offer Pranams to Krishna

In Mukunda-mālā (43)—
kṛṣṇo rakṣati no jagat-traya-guruḥ kṛṣṇo hi viśvambharaḥ
kṛṣṇād eva samutthitaṁ jagad idaṁ kṛṣṇe layaṁ gacchati

kṛṣṇe tiṣṭhati viśvam etad akhilaṁ kṛṣṇasya dāsā vayaṁ
kṛṣṇenākhila-sad-gatir vitaritā kṛṣṇāya tasmai namaḥ

Translation: Krishna protects us. Krishna is the spiritual master of the three worlds. Krishna is the sustainer of the universe. The entire creation arose from Krishna and is wound up in Him at the time of dissolution. The entire universe is situated within Krishna. We are Krishna’s servants. All perfections are given by Krishna, so we offer our obeisance to Him
